Background Info:
I'm usually a winning player and I have been consistently beating this game for a good bit. I play graveyard shift at casino a lot (30 hrs a week).... The best thing about the graveyard shift is that there are tons of HORRIBLE players. Like calling 10x preflop raise with ATC and chase gut shot for 2/5 of their stacks etc...

Long story short.

I sucked out on a bad player with a terrible call for a huge pot. I loved the money but I feel really ****ty about my decision making skill.
And, odd enough, sometimes I feel better to make the right decision and get sucked out than outdraw a fish.

Had any of you experience this?

It happens, I don't feel bad about it. When the cards get all in and I see that I'm behind, I first think to myself, "I guess I didn't play that right/ I misread the situation or the opponents cards."

In poker, all you can really do is try and minimize these situations as much as possible. Even Phil Ivey sucks out on people. Emotions at the poker table, whether guilt, anger or any others are usually detrimental to your game.

Don't worry, that bad player getting his money in good for once isn't going to change the game any. All you can do is learn from your error.

i try to learn to enjoy the few times i suck out, as long as they are rare.
it already works from time to time.
you hardly learn if you dont do any mistakes.

Don't feel bad bro. EVERYONE has to suck out to win at some point or another. As long as you don't need to often, just enjoy it when it's not you getting needled for once. Also, if you're a winning player you suck out all the time too... and here's how:

For winners, our version of "sucking out" is when those hands where we're 3:1 to win hold up seven times straight, or when we get in QQ pre good against KQ of clubs then survive a coinflip flop with two clubs on it. We don't notice it as much because these are all hands we're "supposed to win." So, sometimes it's hard to see when we're winning more than our fair share because we have to look at the whole picture.

Good players go on heaters. Bad players suckout alot. Sometimes a suckout or two can be part of a heater, and sometimes a few hot hands combined with lots of suckouts can be part of a donkfest. No matter how you look at it we all win at some point when we're not supposed to.
