So i start a session, i tell myself im not gonna play higher than xx, im gonna stop after i lost xxxx etc etc etc. The session ends and i find msyelf having played higher and lost more. This happen a gazillion times. I have managed to live on this some years though, so i never really thought of it, or maybe didnt want to think of it. Anyway after the last time i did this did someone tip me off about http://www.gamblersanonymous.org/ga/index.php. I did answer this and found that i have like 15 or so. And then i tell myself, wtf doesnt everyoen chase when losing, play higher to win back, feel like they want to win more once they started to win etc. And then it finally dawned on me, maybe thats not the case. Would love to hear other people view on this. Thanks for you replies.

When first playing I would say that many people do tilt and chase and play to high but after you have seen first hand that it's a losing formula you obviously must adjust. If you have no ability to do so then your brain is simply not wired to be able to handle losing.

I have chased before but lately that is not the case. I really don't deposit much online anymore. I play a little but quite honestly I just don't have the desire as much to play as much. Black Friday and Everleaf have left a bad taste in my mouth. I was thinking about depositing a significant amount online but I thought it would be better to just try and grind a roll. However, I sadly don't really feel like grinding as significantly and realize I just wasted all this time.

Mainly I think I have hit recreational status. Mainly cause I am really not playing much poker at all. Well by my normal standards anyway. Maybe that will change in the future. U.S. regulation one time!

I think these are things that anyone who wants to gamble is going to have to learn the hard way, no matter how many times you've been told. Now you know what not to do. So don't do it. Don't play when drinking or on drugs, or even if you're not in the right state of mind. If you can't honestly say "I have $x to invest and I'm confident in my skills." then you're not ready to play.

Only you can decide if you have a gambling problem. Only thing I would advise is be honest with yourself.

A question to ask yourself....

Have you gambled longer or for more money than you wanted to -- repeatedly --- and has the result ever been different despite your best efforts.

I dont chases or move up in stakes after a bad run. Have a stop loss and stick to it dont play over the stakes your roll can handle. This creates less swings etc and alot less stress.
