Anyone Else Tremble When Villains Stare? Anyone Else Tremble When Villains Stare?

I can't control this. When I put in a big bet and villains are trying to get a read before they make a decision, I get nervous and I get a slight tremble right when they start looking at me (and probably proceed to give off tells afterwards).

At least the good news is, the slight tremble happens whether I have the nuts or I'm bluffing. So sometimes they call incorrectly because they think I'm nervous when I actually have the nuts.

This is actually very common, but the funny thing is a lot of pople don't know they do it, and as you said, regardless if you have junk or the nuts your trembling is the same. I wouldn't put too much into some tell....just because someone see's you shaking, sure doen't mean they *know* what your hand is, they simply know your trembling, play your own game and let them try to figure out what it means or doesn't mean.

Are there situations when you are NOT trembling?
When, if there are?

Also; are you a somewhat nitty player?
That's the conclusion I'd draw. Basically b/c if you were LAG
your trembling when betting big should have gone away
through 'exposure therapy',...

I guess when I'm super tired or slightly on tilt, I might not tremble

I'm not incredibly nitty, I play around 20% 10 handed

I don't do it while I'm betting either. It's the wait time after the bet while someone's trying to get a read that's the problem, particularly when I know they're staring at me.

Try wearing sun glass'....most people that choose them do so NOT to prtect thierself from giving away tells, but to make it easier to look at other players w/o them seing you do it. Another benifit is they can give you more confidence, and another side benifit to wearing them makes [some] other players suspious of you...like you're trying to hide, which in your case might be a good thing.

Another tip, *before* you get invloved w/ this certain situation, and know when it might come, find something on the table to stare at. Then when this situation occurs just keep looking at the that spot on the table, or the mucked card pile, or stare off into space...just keeping looking at the same thing, don't talk, don't pick your nose, don't itch your arm..just keeping looking at something.

The only problem I have with staring at a spot on the table and not doing anything is the fact that it's damn hard to do that for the amount of time it takes some people to make a decision because of the tension involved.

I came up with a new idea. I'm working on a sequence of seemingly random actions that I'll perform when I'm waiting. Shuffle my chips, cross my legs, lean back, lean forward, shuffle 2-3 more times, etc.

It'll be hilarious how some villains will try to make sense of what I'm doing, but really I'll just be following the same sequence no matter what :P

I usually start laughing, which may be a manifestation of nervousness in itself... but usually, it just looks funny to me. Like I must have chocolate sauce on my face or some ****.

When people stare me down. I just stare at the board. One hand to my cheeck and one on the table. I basically always sit like this during a poker game.
Sometimes I stare at their stack to give him a 'I want your stack' signal. Which sometimes makes them fold the best hand. This only works with level 1 villain's though.

The stare down is probably one of the most exciting things about live poker imo. It's like looking into someone's soul.....

Practice staring at them. Alternate looking at their eyes and their chest. Those two places are the most intimidating imo.

I'll constantly stare at a guy's hair if I think it'll get to him. Most guys get uncomfortable when you look at their hair. It's like looking at a girl's shoes. Next time you see a really hot chick, look at her shoes and then watch her reaction. You'll see what I mean.

A cocktail waitress once told me this. She said checking out a girl's shoes makes them uncomfortable and insecure. After trying it, I noticed she was right.

Every time I'd do it, I'd notice that the girl would catch me looking, she would then look down as if asking "really, do these shoes look bad on me!?"

It's kinda mean to do once you realize you're making someone insecure.

Only problem with this is that actions of any kind tend to make players more suspicious and more likely to call. Mike Caro said that most players have a "call reflex" and I agree with the general idea. Most bad players are looking fit excuses to call you, so they will seek out reasons to call you, even if they aren't correct reasons. It doesn't matter if your body language is "balanced" if your opponents are more likely to interpret it as weak.

You ever see someone walking or driving down the road and you think to yourself, "now this mutha****er has a GREAT poker face!"

I have. But then I wonder how'd they play and if they'd be any good.

Anybody else do that?

If I see a person who makes me think that, I immediately challenge them to a heads-up freezeout tournament for at least $200. Sometimes they accept.

I don't recommend it for everyone. It's kind of a pain dragging around the chips, cards, etc all the time.

I don't have the trembling problem but sometimes my muscles get so tight that my hands start going numb when I'm really nervous or excited. Anyone else have this problem? It doesn't happen much. I know people can tell but the beauty of it is it happens randomly. Last night I turned a 10 high flush on a A K 8 9 board. I was in position, and the one guy bet 9 bucks and the other called. I instantly shoved and my muscles starting doing that thing. I literally had to stand up. The guy put me on a weak hand because I was acting so wierd and nervous and he called my all in. Only to being drawing dead with A Q :-).
