I am not sure I understood your question then, place your hand over any card it has a 1/52 chance to be any card, the chance of any card being an ace is 1/52, the chance of a card being the Ah is 1/52, the chance of the next card also being the Ah is 1/52, does this help?

I don't understand how a card can have a 1/52 chance of being each of four different cards (i.e. the Ac, Ad, As and Ah) and at the same time have only a 1/52 chance of being any of the same four cards. It seems like if the card has a greater than 0 chance of being each of four cards, then it should have a greater chance of being any of the four than it has of being a particular one of the four. But you say this isn't true.

It almost seems like the chances of the card being the Ac, the Ad, the As and the Ah should almost like add together or something to get the chance of the card being any one of them.


If you could post an explanation for why there is a 1/52 chance of such card being any of the four cards mentioned above (i.e. the Ac, Ad, As or Ah), maybe that would be helpful.

Your initial random draw from 52 decks is what you are forgetting.


deck 1, you draw a card, put it on your side, it has a 1/52 chance of being the Ah.

deck 2, you draw a card, put it on your side, it has a 1/52 chance of being the Ah.

deck 3, you draw a card, put it on your side, it has a 1/52 chance of being the Ah.

and so on for 52 times .

Then just simply consider the reverse, pick a card from the counter, it still has a 1/51 chance of being the Ah, or any other value, reveal the card to see Ah, draw a second card, that card also has a 1/52 chance of being the Ah.
