It's just your pattern recognition part of your brain messing with you. The board will run out the same whether you're playing PLO or NLHE. The only thing I would imagine is that you see the river MUCH more often with PLO as opposed to NLHE, but the main reason is the board pairing matters so much more in omaha than with hold'em, so you're more apt to pay attention to it.
