One, they sap boom and boom bots remain...those boom bots have potential 8 damage behind them...making it often awkard to blade flurry when OTK isn't quite there...you just play boom again with more boom bots there to give potential damage to the low health rogue.
You're definitely not favored, but taking the most aggressive approach is needed...try to mulligan for an owl against violent teacher as well as she can get out of hand and put you on your heels
I've played this matchup a lot on both sides and want to add a few other things...
-if the rogue doesn't draw sprint, he's done for. they almost never hold it in the opening hand vs paladin, so the major out is they run out of cards. can happen. ive lost and won games because of this
-the juggler has so much less value in this matchup because it dies to almost every early turn counter by the rogue. having said that, you cant afford to not play it on t2, but the best card for sure are minibots
-try to fade fan of knives with muster! sneaky sneaky paladins set up situations where it looks like fan is good, and could have played muster, but actually set up the muster for the following turn
-MOST of the time you want to play to curve and play the biggest minion from your hand. (a lot of exceptions here) but in this matchup, unless you're in a hope-and-pray zone, i would never play to curve with tirion on 8 for example. its because sap completely destroys that and you cant recover. ideally, you split up your mana, like on a turn 8 going belcher/aldor, (again, if these plays are even possible) just so that sap can get mitigated. as always, try to bait out saps so that tirion sticks (IF tirion can stick, he's a total pain in the ass for the rogue to deal with)
Major "secret" (it's not really a secret) against an oil rogue is you just don't want to ever leave them a minion. if you do, that measley 1 attack minion is now going to be oiled and waste you. unless you have a bait (like harrison and suspect they dont also have flury) be extremely conservative
on that note though, dont be overgreedy with harrison, if you run it. often the 2 mana re-dagger can be crucial to the rogue (delaying them a turn) and lack of card draw for pally can be resolved by drawing 2 with harrison (on just a simple dagger) obv the kill shot is getting an oil or full deadly poison, but you really cant be that greedy
kreme's point about extreme aggression has a little bit of merit. the rogue will use their life total as a resource by attacking, so if you can drop them low enough (where they need their erf or healbots) you can push them off the optimal play (if they dont have heart... I HAVE
)
lastly, dont get upset if you think your 20 life total is fine vs them and they getcha. if they have a full-ish hand, they likely are holding insane amount of burst, so you basically can't play around that (unless you can drop taunt after taunt, and even then...) a lot of the skill/power in this matchup comes down to the rogue. if they dont get an awful draw and are a talented player, they're just going to win it very often. this is because they will deal with your limited early threats very efficiently, be able to hold the board for 1 turn, and then let loose.
*lay on hands sucks in this matchup. 8 health almost doesn't matter vs the rogue and passing a full turn vs them is often just death. something to keep in mind.
