I just picked up hearthstone after probably 30 games total when it came out.
What's my best way to get a competitive deck (spending wise)?

long term buy classic packs + the newest adventures; with the newest adventures you get the best value per $$ and they will last the longest.
My opinion:
1) Classic Packs
2) Newest adventures
3) Newest packs from expansions
4) Older adventures if you want to play wild
5) Older expansions if you want to play wild
