The other list that runs 2x acrobatics instead of skulls is very good too (does not run polkelt) but i’d consider stilt stepper a core card. It’s a solid annoying body with burst damage and card draw. What’s really funny about this deck is I usually can end up cycling completely. It cycles better than any deck I’ve ever played. There’s so much draw.

I think being good at aggro teaches you a lot of basic things about the game. I really like the games because they’re fast and you know whether you won or lost very quickly. Like, I get two skulls of guldan in my starting hand with a stilt stepper? Yea, welp, probably lost this one, on to the next. Compared to control where every game “feels” winnable but usually isn’t and you can make one basic tactical error and throw entirely. Aggro is not very forgiving either but it’s at least a lot easier to see when you **** up.

With this list I’m very seriously considering taking out a skull of guldan and putting in metamorphosis. It plays nice when discounted by lorekeeper + skull, and will give some surprise lethals combined with stilt stepper that people just are not ready for or expecting at all.

Very fist game was against a Priest. **** me that was not fun at all.

Instead of polkelt/skulls/stiltsteppers you could try having 2x acrobatics, 1x mana burn, and 1 of each of either sightless watcher (the 3/2 that puts a card of your choice on top of the deck) or perhaps a relentless pursuit (i could be getting the name wrong but the +4 damage and immune to hero).

Stilt steppers VERY worth it though especially in the low curve deck. It’s more of a finisher card though which sucks when you draw it early so there’s definitely probably a good deck without them.

I was hoping that in giving it a shot, I wouldn't play my only game against the class that wants to play as long of a game a possible, doesn't actually play any minions, and goes for as many 3 or 4-for-1 plays as possible until the opponent quits.

I like it when it feels like there's something to do, or at the very least I hate feeling stupid for even playing the game. Particularly against Priest, it feels like their plan is to sit back with a full hand the whole game and just allow you to play out your entire deck as they neutralize anything you do.

I don't disagree that it's really fun to play. But it's really fun for one person, and as fun as it is, it comes at the expense of the other person feeling as bad as you do good.

Priest is ****ing annoying as to what it’s become. I’m speaking as a former priest main and with 2k wins with the class. The direction they’ve taken it, in a “steal all your cards and minions” way they doubled and tripled down on results in very unfun and unwinnable feeling games.

However I own priests. They can’t deal with the fast starts other than to play a few crappy early minions and pray they draw their AOE in time before i take them down to 6 health by turn 4. It’s really satisfying beating them down.

The priests at high ladder are looking to hard counter the OTK warrior by stealing their combo pieces with madam lazul. That and tickatus is one of the few counters to ETC OTK. But tickatus sucks. I’ve been burned twice by priest stealing my hand and playing all my burn.

On the other side of the coin, what I am doing with the aggro deck is really annoying too. It can feel helpless to be dead by turn 5 and there’s nothing you really could have done about it. And even then so many of my losses are like “welp he had a turn 4 14/14 edwin I guess I just lose then.”

Very little counterplay in today’s hearthstone, but the game has been trending like that for a while. But what I do love about the game right now is that there are more viable playable decks than perhaps have ever existed in this game for one meta. And they’re very diverse.

Demon hunter - has a midrange, aggro, and combo deck

Shaman - has a flood and midrange deck

Paladin - has aggro and midrange lists and some midrange lists bordering on control

Priest - has a tempo-y list and a control list of many, many different flavors

Warrior - has an otk deck, a control deck, an aggro deck (enrage), and a midrange deck with big warrior

Mage - highlander is still hanging in there, and small spell although this is probably the least diverse class

Hunter - varies from extremely aggressive face lists to slower highlander lists

Druid - pretty polarized to the slower lists. A class that is in trouble right now in my opinion.

Rogue - multiple flavors of aggro, miracle, galakrond, and probably some other **** we havent even discovered yet.

Warlock - has zoo and control. Although the control list seems sucky.

That’s a pretty good mix and nothing is too broken except for paladin. Long gone are the days where we only had 1 or two decks to play and among those very little variety.

Grats J! I started at around 800 legend and dumpstered myself to about 4.5k trying to have fun with the old gods........which, annoyingly, are all pretty bad. I wish Blizz was more generous handing out 11 stars vs 10. The grind to legend at 11 stars is a breeze, it's still a grind at 10.

Also I'm finding this current meta to be pretty boring especially this soon after an expansion (and a 3rd expansion at that! which are usually OP). You either play DH, face or HL hunter, paladin, or warrior. Everything else feels pretty fringe and not that great. There aren't really any new decks either, just all tweaks to existing ones...even evolve Shaman was a deck 2 expansions ago so I don't even consider it "new". meh

Yea the 11 stars is nice. Ladder is pretty brutal for me rn because I’m queuing into all the high legends. I queued into monsanto with etc warrior and he instant conceded, lol. But I’m not sure what the rank floor for 11 stars is - I randomly received it one month at rank 1800 or something.

Etc warrior was a big surprise. The levels of play it’s seeing at high legend are ridiculous. The run I had with aggro dh was even more crazy to me because of that. It’s supposed to be like a 40% matchup or less and I was murdering them. I’m pretty sure every player in the top 10 played it (from what I was seeing in my matchups against them).

This will eventually trickle down to lower ranks and shape the meta in a very weird way. It’s very polarized towards control and aggro right now. Priest bends most of these decks over. I am trying to craft my missing cards for control priest but I’m about 1600 dust short - if I had played this deck at high legend the other night, it would’ve been a much different game. For some reason not many are playing it.

I’m also not worried about the meta because there will be nerfs which shake things up, there will be the mini expansion, and there are still a lot of decks to play. I like aggro dh tbh, I have fun playing it. Which I’ve never been able to say about an aggro deck. Soul dh is very fun too. They did a good job making that class fun, now they just need to tone down its power level.

Dh at lower ranks looks straight up oppressive. At the high ranks though the aggros basically disappeared and there was only one other guy running aggro the other night but he switched to soul. I’m almost positive I was the only one in top 50.

Revolve Shaman rakes aggro DH over the coals. I lost one match to aggro DH on my way to Diamond 1 and that was because I didnt get one of the about 8 or so cards that you need to effectively play Bogspine on 4 or 5 in my first 4 turns.

That is not one of the matchups I typically struggle with. The fast start I can get is hard for them to keep up with. Typically by turn 5 they are just dead.

I struggle greatly with rogue who gets out a fast edwin, and soul dh if they play correctly and get their AOE’s.

This is very much my typical game vs shaman where they are dead before turn 5 because they can't do anything before then really. Their best hope is to lightning bloom out the weapon into double dread corsair and hope it pulls something crazy like the elemental 7/8 taunt. I've had people take that exact line against me and it works sometimes. But really all they have to fight me off is the 1/2 that summons the 3/2 on turn 3. Notice how I shut down his coin into weapon turn. Their only hope is praying I get 2 skull of guldans in my starting hand or something.

I really like playing shaman so I'm bummed about the deck because this is the one matchup as the shaman that made me stop playing shaman. If the DH plays correctly and has a good start there's almost nothing the shaman can do.

It seems like Constructed is in a good place right now. Even with all the crazy combos that sometimes kill you out of nowhere, it's never boring. I'm hardly playing any of the other modes because they're not nearly as much fun, except maybe Duels.

Dude it’s definitely op. I went from rank 5 zero stars to top 50 in a week and a half without a deck tracker and mostly playing mobile. I couldnt even hit legend last month. I’m far from terrible but i’m not THAT good. For reference the only other times I’ve reached deep legend is with pirate warrior, the other GOAT aggro deck, and aggro/midrange shaman when it was busted with jades. All broken decks.

I dont track stats so I cant say for certain but I went from 220 wins to 350 wins with DH so I think I did it in less than 200 games as well. That shouldnt happen in my opinion unless youre just a freak of nature.

However I’m very glad aggro DH is around, because it’s literally the only thing making clown druid a tier 2 or tier 3 deck. **** that card and **** that deck. Unfun, uncounterable bullshit.

The DH list I was using got posted on VS today. I always feel good when I am ahead of VS when it comes to decks. However I am cutting voracious reader and adding mindless watcher. Maybe going 2x mindless watcher. Fishing for a polkelt or a much needed reach card is unbelievably good. Voracious reader has anti synergy with the skull of guldan package and youre hardly ever in a spot where you can even draw more than 1 card. It makes a nice pseudo taunt in the aggro mirror, that’s it.

The other innovation I really want to try is having metamorphosis in the deck somewhere. It would be great when combo’d and discounted with altruis. I also want somehow a 4 health minion but I don’t know what would do the trick. Something like a 2/4 or a 3/4 would be amazing because those survive the soul DH AOE which typically makes me lose on the spot.

Fairly cheap deck too, right? I have a feeling it's going to dominate the ladder this month. How do you do against the mirror?

But all of this is moot because ETC warrior will be the dominant deck this expansion, I’m sure of it. It has no real weaknesses I can see. Even VS is saying you can cut brawls and bladestorms and ****, that’s how good it is at control and getting combo.

Reminds me of the old OTK warrior I was actually quite decent at, with the buffed worgens that got charge.

I think hyper aggro decks with a lot of reach are the only ones that stand a chance against it. Enhancement shaman I have my eyes on. I am just missing one card.

The polkelt variant is more expensive but beats the absolute crap out of hyper aggro variant because you can clear a board in a huge swing turn on 7. Usually winning the game on the spot.

I had a game last night where one hyper aggro got me down to 7 health with board control but I was able to wipe everything and throw up a taunt and it was gg.

I think part of my success with the deck was in the first few days people were completely blindsided by polkelt and not expecting you to have a board clearing 15 dmg combo on turns 7/8. But now they’re prepared for it and it sucks.

I may tech a platebreaker against all the warriors if I get to high legend again. That’ll make people rage hard.

I took vicious syndicate’s advice and took out a pressure plate for explosive trap to deal with all these demon hunters. Also running the rhino on the top - not sure about him yet. He’s great when he’s a 7/7 and you curve him out. Not sure I’m even mulliganing correctly and it’s annoying when the deck gets a slow start, but that’s the nature of highlander decks - they can be inconsistent. Polkelt adds some consistency at the top of the curve which is nice but after you play brann, it’s like now what? You get rhino, then the weapon, then the dragon guy. Unless you’ve basically already won the game I dont see its impact but brann is so strong it may not be the winmore build that I think it is.

I got inspired by some 17 year old kid who got #2 in asia with the weirdest list - it’s enrage warrior running etc + broomsticks. Inner rage is the damaging combo piece instead of pen flinger.

I switched some cards around and added a rattlegore. Basically if you cut the lowest performing cards (like 40% winrate) from enrage warrior and add etc + broomsticks you have most of the core cards of etc warrior plus several win conditions. This deck has so many win conditions it’s actually crazy.

In general if you have a good opponent it’s super valuable if you can disguise your list as another deck. I can take openers that make me look 100% like a control etc warrior and make them throw away removal they need for my big **** later. Or I can run an enrage opener and make them not play around the right combo - they’re expecting an 18 damage korkron combo, but I’ve got 30+.

This deck also cycles much faster than etc control because you always have so many damaged minions to combo battle rage off of. With etc, you normally have to get big draw turns off a risky skipper. Not so with this deck. God, if there were only a way to tutor ETC.
