To be fair, I think those Ive beaten have been pretty bad with the deck, loading their board with their hand on turn ten so I can play Drake/Fishes combo.

I know you've played enough quest rogue that you've had to have experienced the Wyrm into Apprentice + coin + glyph + glyph + mirror image etc shenanigans.

I haven't seen stats lately but I think quest rogue is slightly favored. I feel like that's a matchup I've actually become competent at playing.

Must be running well, too. People still seem to think Dirty Rat counters quest rogue and IME, it's helped (by pulling Igneous) or been a non-factor in almost all my games.

Of course quest rogue loses to a heavy tempo deck.

Most of the time mana wyrm is a 2/3 that just dies. Still good, but he's way low on the list of mage cards i'd consider moving. Ice block and glyph are the worst suspects. Maybe alexstraza could use a rotation at some point.

I'm amazed at how many times I've seen Nzoth pally lose in tournaments because of its sheer inability to ever generate pressure and also the number of times it dies past turn 15 with Nzoth in hand and never being played.

Also it's kind of interesting that no one cared about ice block before now. Feels like we've been sleeping on it for a long time

Back when we were at peak freeze/molten giants mage people hated it. It hasnt really been that relevant since then other than reno mage.

I think the reason for that is freeze mage before could OTK reliably, and ice blocks weren't as reliable. Whereas now freeze mage is now survive the onslaught of other decks with ice block until you can piece enough burn.

People seem to hate decks on their win conditions.

I think Blizzard needs to sort through badly designed cards and cards that limit design space.

I'll use two cards as an example. Ice block the first. On it's own ice block isn't something you cannot overcome. Against aggro or tempo decks it's not hard to pop one or even two before the mage can assemble damage. It is more effective against control decks. To me that card is fine that way.

The second example is glyph. Even if you cannot discover Ice Block, you can discover discounted pyros, fireballs, meteors, frostbolts, flamestrikes and blizzards. Spells, in my opinion, are too powerful in Hearthstone that they shouldn't be part of the Discover package.

So this. They usually get a game changing card that wins it for them.

I started playing around it by just assuming they have the best possible card for whatever situation theyre in, if they have it then I'm prepared and if not I'm pleased

General though I think wildcards like that are good for any card game, it's just way under costed for what it is

The Flamewaker tempo mage didn't even run secrets. It's hard to envision mage decks that won't run at least 2 now.

BTW I tried that kripp Hemet mage, it feels powerful. Obviously I lose the first game I use it by running into Rag Lightlord, who I hadn't even seen in two weeks.

I'd like to try it too but there's no way I'm crafting him

Also regarding that earlier vid, I agree with Kripp that there's way too many legendaries in this xpac. Sorta disagree with the complaints about RNG in general though. Current rng is nowhere near as egregious as it was in GVG. I agree that glyph is priced wrong.

Pretty sure that it did when Mad Scientist was around.

Shaman: One drop+flametounge totem or one drop plus jade claws
Warrior: Fiery war axe, a million other cards
Hunter: trade fiery bat in, get lucky with the ping. also coin bow.
Priest: Shadow word pain
Mage: Frostbolt, ping+trade, glyph into whatever
Rogue: Backstab+hero power. Hero power plus southsea deckhand or two pirates. Hero power plus coin SI Agent. Evis.
Warlock: Trade in a T1 flame imp. Um, coined juggler into play something trade juggler. bloodbloom+doooooom
Paladin: I can't think of a way but I never play this class have like 5 wins with it on ladder.

I think the most I've ever hit someone or been hit by mana wyrm is 5 or 6. It only has three health and is not very scary though you don't know how to remove it so maybe you are more scared of it than you should be...

It is not a problematic card lol. Most of the other cards in Secret Mage are much more insane...zero mana 5/5s, secrets that eat your win condition, two copies of a burn spell that can give a 5/7 with charge.

Ice block is fine. Idk, glyph needs to be changed to be less flexible...doesn't make any sense it gives a 2 mana cost reduction but shadow visions doesn't.

Shadow visions is Better typically because you only get cards from your deck. The reason glyph is so powerful is the discount which as you mention is not fair at all. Discover shouldn't be free.

There are just too many ways now to circumvent the whole 2 copies of a card per deck thing. That rule exists for a good reason and being able to semi-reliably get 3-4 copies of your most powerful cards is ******ed.

Agree, it's even worse when you can have 3 legendaries.

Seriously, watching tournaments and stuff the number of times people have to go through a control Paladin's 3 Tirions is absurd.

I don't even know how people watch tournaments these days. I find most the decks currently in the game not even interesting. Like I saw a post on reddit complaining about how quest warrior has ruined competitive hs because rag shots, but **** who wants to watch a guy play his best taunt on curve?
