Varian would be played if it were a neutral. Velen would be played a lot of it were neutral.

You cannot really compared class-specific cards to neutrals on a power level rating. The problem with Varian is that it does an effect that warriors don't really want. But Varian in Ramp Druid would be ****ing amazing. So, Y'Sh might find play in a class that would love Varian but cannot have him.

Varian is decent in tempo warrior, it was just never really a strong deck before the pre-WOTOG meta.

Y'Shaarj is still only goodish in Ramp because end of turn effects don't activate from the new minion since it's summoned during the EOT phase. Varian doesn't have this issue, so it lets you populate your deck with better minions.

I've been playing tempo warrior w/ varian and he seems meh, mainly because between acolyes and battle rage i'm usually at the bottom of my deck by the time I play him.

Amazing that variance can have an effect on how good a card is in a card game.

Just played an N'Zoth priest who played forbidden shaping on turn 8, got Anomalus allowing me to clear his board, and also allowing me to clear his board when he played n'zoth lol

Lifecoach was gaining ranks with it in a ramp druid deck the other day. You'll be able to find his list in his vods if you're interested.

I mulligan for animal companion/bow. I really have no idea what to mulligan for in this deck though lol.

Tracking is also decent, so is Bear Trap. Tracking to look for King's Elekk. Between Elekk who can only bring out Yogg, drawing Yogg himself, or finding him via Tracking i actually find him by turn 10 like 70% of the time.

I think C'Thun Druid is okay, main problem is that ramp outshines it in every respect.

Was playing vs a N'Zoth paladin. He N'Zoths, resurrects Tirion+corrupted healbot and im at about 10 health to his 13 or so. Yogg casts 2 board clears to wipe the board, a fireball to his face, a feral rage, and a sinister strike (among other things) for perfect leathal.

Yes, I've been plying it in Ramp. It's very much a viable card I think. You run like 2x WG, 2x Mire, 2x Nourish, 1 Darnassus. Then you just have a lot of late game along with like Fandral, DotC, etc. It's a strong deck.

Varian would be run in Ramp for sure. You can get away with loading up on late game bombs in Druid in a way you can't in warrior, because you are like 2 mana ahead of your opponent in most games (sometimes like 4 mana). You could occasionally play Varian t4 or some ****.

I see what nonfiction is saying though. Often at 10 mana, assuming you've drawn some with acolyte and whatnot, you're pretty far into your deck. If you need to RNG varian into a taunt or whatever it can game save, or into a korkron or something, but I think the statement rings true.

I thought Varian would be nuts, but it's not. Lack of battlecry and total RNG of what you draw limits his battlecry, and when you consider a. at 10 mana he has NO impact (in fact, negative) against fast decks and b. vs super control decks, you play for fatigue it limits his window.

Varian is INSANE vs midrange decks. Fact. They dont kill you fast enough and you dont run out of cards. But against anything else on the polar end he tends to underperform.

in fairness lifecoach making a card work does not =/= the card being good, or even playable.

I beat cakewalk with a fatigue druid list. It can win some games. Is it a good deck? No

I dont know if the card is good or not (leaning towards no) but I think citing lifecoach winning with it is probably really bad evidence

I have been playing with roughly the same deck Lifecoach ran with the same success. Think I'm 12-2 with it.

Does that mean i should stop trying to make the spawn of n'zoth deck i saw zetalot playing work? But yeah didn't mean to imply that that meant it was a good deck and should have said so. Only meant it was viable for a top .1% player to have some success with, i.e. not totally graveyard tier.
