You do realize that this is going to be on the Internet for the foreseeable future. There are some things you should not put in writing, and this is one of them.

By the by...how's the meth lab going?

Pfapfap - Thanks for the great rundown on improving. I've always tried to set an example as a dealer but some of these tips I hadn't even considered. Glad to see them, and I'll definitely have to check out that Poker Dealer's Handbook for even more refined skills. Great thread!

Great thread. I currently deal the most in our home game but will be passing this on considering most are now starting to take turns.

And if you lose sight of it here, you don't have to search for it. It is linked, along with some other useful threads, in the HP FAQ.

16. If the dealer fails to burn a card or burns more than one card, the error should be corrected if discovered before betting action has started for that round. Once action has been taken on a boardcard, the card must stand. Whether the error is able to be corrected or not, subsequent cards dealt should be those that would have come if no error had occurred. For example, if two cards were burned, one of the cards should be put back on the deck and used for the burncard on the next round. On the last round, if there was no betting because a player was all-in, the error should be corrected if discovered before the pot has been awarded, provided the deck stub, boardcards, and burncards are all sufficiently intact to determine the proper replacement card.
If you can tell which of these cards was the top of the deck, make it the burn the card,
