Quarterly we play something other than No Limit Hold'em to change things up. Last night it was High/Low night and we ran a pretty interesting format - Pot Limit Omaha High/Low - 7-stud High/Low. Here's the structure we ran:
Lots of grumbling from the NLHE regs during the 7-stud rounds. They hate limit poker, but I am slowly getting them to come around and at least admit that it's a challenging form of poker. A lot of the regs don't show up for these special events, but we still got 13 players. (We usually hit the cap of 20 players for NLHE events).
I loved it because it was such a contrast between the Pot Limit and 7-stud rounds. Early in the tourney - especially during the rebuy period - the Pot Limit was playing much bigger than the 7-stud. However, a nit (like me) still had a good chance to grind during the 7-stud rounds and increase his stack. In later rounds, the 7-stud took over and was driving some absolute monster multi-way pots due to the overwhelming lure of chasing for some players.
Corrections I would probably make for next time is to probably make the add-on stack 2000 instead of 3000 or ins some way try to get it over sooner. It definitely ran about an hour longer than we anticipated. However, we did have a pretty epic 40 minute heads up duel where we traded 4-1 chip leads back and forth 3 times. That much heads up play with such huge blinds/bets is unusual.
Let me know if anyone has any thoughts or questions.

PS - Also loved it since I took it down.
