We have a regular game - usually 9-10 guys. We always play STT style with rebuys until a certain time.

Sometimes there are only 5-6 guys that can play. And STT is fine with 5-6. Just wondering about any ideas folks have for something a little different. Seems like the game is just getting a little old. I don't know...

Well, since we only have a big game a couple nights of the week, and were always around each other, we play alot of STT short handed usually 4-6 people.

It gets old very quick, i recommend playing different games, or playing a mixed game such as PLHE/PLO the game changes at the levels, or FLHE/FLO8.

We also play Chinese poker if we are 4 handed sometimes.

Play cash games, add some DC in if you are of that sort. My poker group started with just straight STT tournies and that got old for 3 reasons. 1. Only one person is ever truly happy at the end. 2. Only 2 people actually get to play poker the entire time. 3. No real middle ground you either leave a decent winner, or with nothing. Cash games fix all of those problems. Still play the tournies, but focus more on the cash game afterwards and have a few dedicated cash nights

Id rather play tourney over cash anyday, and even though i believe omaha and all of its variations are complete garbage they still do the job of breaking up the monotony of hold em, and its probably the easiest game for hold em players to ease into.

Out of curiosity, why do you so greatly favor tournaments over cash games?

that was my bad, i actually meant cash over tourney anyday, lol.

I actually dislike tournaments if they are STT, i like MTT's though, still maintain that cash > both.
