Was I scammed? Was I scammed?

Thanks for the feedback everyone; all very much appreciated.

In summary then.....

It is (very) unlikely that it was a scam, but not beyond the realms of possibility.

Don't go back. Agreed. That decision was already made.

Card mechanics are very very difficult to execute effectively.

I played the hands badly. Yep, I have lots of examples of doing that over the years!

Yeah, I deal successive beats like this to people every day. I'm pretty sure I'm not in collusion with the shufflemaster.

Pfapfap picked the Shufflemaster as a cheating partner precisely because it's such a ridiculous idea that most people dismiss it right away.

that sound ridicolous to me.
I've been to a few raked games where there was no set dealer with SB shuffling the advanced deck. Cutting the deck was optional. Usually it covered the game's organizer who bought all the drinks and snacks plus bad beats jackpots or lap dances if you won a hand with 72.

If it's optional, ALWAYS cut the deck. If I were so inclined, I (or any other slightly advanced amateur magician) could rip a game like this apart. I may sound like a broken record but I honestly can't stress a) how easy it would be and b) how little suspicion/scrutiny I would be put under.

Dealing procedures are there for exactly this reason! Cutting the deck takes so little time but is such a simple step to maintain game integrity. A fool and his money are easily parted etc.

I play in an underground room with rake and dedicated dealers, but the BTN shuffles the 2nd deck while the other hand is playing out. Following the hand, the dealer then gives the now shuffled other deck a quick riffle and cut before pitching cards.

I can see why they do this. Gets more hands (more rake for the room) and more hands for the players would likely be popular. Always a legit cut by the dealer, at least, would be very very desirable!

I dunno, I would prefer players not touching the deck. It's just now you have to watch 2 people handling the deck. It's just, you never know
