How to weight a shoot-out poker tourney. How to weight a shoot-out poker tourney.

Im helping run a Bowling, Darts, Poker Tournament.

The poker section will be run in the shootout format. There is going to be 16 teams of 4.

So there will be 8, 8th place finishes, etc, and then a final table, places 1-8. I obviously want the final table to be weighted more.

Any suggestions on a point structure?

Why does it need to be a shoot out? Just assign point values for finishing positions and run it like a standard tourney.

It would make it a lot easier to organize IMO. Just keep the teams as split up as possible at the start.

That's how is was in the past with 64 points for last and 1 for first. That means breaking down tables and trying to figure out who went out in wit position.

This also prevents team mates from playing at the same table, until the final table. Shoot out will be much simpler to run.

For the folks who don't play the final table use (number of tables) x (finish position) for points. For folks at the final table, just use finish position.

This provides a small bonus to folks at the final table, but is fair to everyone in the room.
