Can't We All Just Get Along? Can't We All Just Get Along?

So, a couple Fridays ago, we had our next game. I was home from work all week with the flu so I had to sit it out. I never heard anything from anyone at the game, so I'm pretty sure they were on their best behavior. Strangely enough, player A and B ended up playing heads up.

Perhaps the seething animosity has settled into a healthy competitiveness.

The only issue was I asked him to shuffle while heads up. After the host declined to for me.

I don't know if that was a reasonable request or not?

Nope. Nothing healthy about these two.
I assume they were just on their best behavior in an attempt not to alienate the host.

An uneasy truce is better than open war.

The game has not been curtailed/ or wrecked. No homicide detectives have been called in. So far so good I guess! Best wishes actually.

So, I hosted again last night. First time in a while. Wesrwood and the other player went at it again. I had just got knocked out of the tournament and was taking my puppy our for a quick walk before I joined the cash game. When I returned, I was greeted with something like "You need to settle this dispute".

Undisputed 'Facts' confirmed by a Wesrwood supporter
1. The other player was up.
2. Wesrwood was the bank since I was still in the tournament.
3. The other player was drinking (a beer) when he normally wouldn't. He recently moved closer to the bar scene and is making some life changes. He had 1/2 beer, however he was acting a big stranger than usual.
4. After winning a biggish hand against Wesrwood, the other player stood up and said, "I'm leaving. Cash me out."
5. Wesrwood asked why he didn't give the usual 15/20/30 minute notice. As Wesrwood was reaching for the monies to cash this player out, the other player said "**** You!"
6. Wesrwood sat there and said, "I'm not paying you until [Precept] gets back."
7. After hearing Wesrwood's version, the other player added one thing. He gets a bit defensive when he thinks he's not getting paid by Wesrwood. He misread this situation badly and eventually realized it.

OMFG WTF is going on here?

I told/reminded the other player that he should have given his notice; he knows the standard. I then told Wesrwood that we can't make him stay. The other player apologized because after hearing Wesrwood describe the events. I asked him to apologize to Wesrwood and he did without hesitation.

I spoke with one of the other regs after cleanup and Wesrwood took Permaban (from Open Thread) home. I included the new Craigslist dude who is everything we all want in a Home Game player. With 4 events left on our schedule, the other player needs at least 1-game ban. Determining the length of the suspension will be tough, because we've never had to deal with this much baggage in one night.

If I were writing this post and the Open Thread in Microsoft Excel, it would be yelling at me about my Circular Reference.

Oh FFS, I don't want either of them in my game.

For once I didn't do anything close to wrong. We were also playing 3 handed so him leaving broke the game. I didn't care about that tho. I just said to him he didn't give any notice which we always do and he stood up and swore at me

It wouldn't be a fair fight even if I tied BOTH hands behind my back

This is why we don't allow minors to play poker... :-P

In the past, I've made the the reference that I feel like I'm work. Oh, I'm a high school teacher. It's just not a fun time when something sucks the fun out of a situation.

As an objective human, Wesrwood was well behaved. It really was the other player acting differently.

Actually no. A few of us were talking after Wes left. If Wes isn't there, the other player isn't a problem. Similarly, if the other isn't there, Wes isn't a problem. It's the two of them towards each other.

Considering you know your history together, and you know that he has a short fuse with you, then why is it your job to point out what everybody knows? Surely somebody else can mention it, no? Why are you refusing to cash him out?

"I'm not touching you. I'm not touching you."

I refused to cash him out after he swore at me. And I refuse to be talked to like that by anyone

So you poke the bear and then cry when the bear growls.

WTF, dude. Stop going to this game.

Think you need to learn to read better

You know he doesn't like you. You chose to make a comment about him doing something wrong. Then you took some stance "on principle" and withheld his rightfully-owed money after he got irritated at that. What did you think was going to happen?

He's acting like a twit, but you're instigating. Take the high road. Examples: don't comment on his cash-out. Cash him out anyway even after he swears at you.

It's not your job to police this dude. Just stay out of it. Stop poking at him. Be the better man. Let it go.

If he were here, I'd be telling him to stop being a twit. But he's not here. You are. It takes two to tango. You're a smart dude. Surely you can find a path that avoids confrontation altogether, no?
03-02-2014 , 01:50 AM
I didn't cash him out cause I wanted precept to handle the situation before he left

Seriously dude. Grow the **** up. Oh look I swore....

Precept, why keep inviting wesrwood. He has been the cause of many posts on this forum about busting up you game. If you continue to invite him I suspect you won't have a game much longer. And why why why would you leave the bank with a player who is a known problem.
