What do you have in that case, anyway?
Dude, judging by your knowledge and passion for chips, you don't want to know what is inside that case. I would love Paulsons or something of equal quality, I just can't justify the purchase. Got a mortgage, bills, etc and spending that kind of cash on chips just seems unnecessary at this time. I know for a fact when I do purchase a good set of chips, I will say that I should have done it years earlier, but we are all accustomed to the chips we use. Maybe I should look for a used set somewhere.

Some people wouldn't "justify" the effort put into that table, nor find it "necessary" to figure out how to space 9 seats around when 8 is so much easier, let alone cut the custom raised drinkholder detail, match the stain to the chip case, nor especially document ever step of the way with photographs and description published on the web... The point being that, whether you know it or not, you are not making decisions based on cost vs value, my friend.

But "at this time" excuses everything. I can tell by the love that went into your table that you will not get the wrong chips in the end. We can wait, and the mystery embarrassment chips are actually perfect... for now.

I understand what you are getting at but I would much rather have a table like I have along with the unfortunate chips which I use, as opposed to playing on a regular table with grade A chips.

There is no way that I could consider the chips to being as important as the table. I assume that you do not feel the same, and probably assume that the table and chips are of equal importance. The table was my main priority.....chips are secondary for me and will eventually get taken care of. But I am a patient guy who will wait for a good deal.

I really feel like something significant is missing if I'm playing on a nice table w/ garbage chips. Sure I'd rather play on a top-notch table w/ bargain chips instead of a crappy fold up card table or on the dining room table w/ Casino Paulsons. But having one without the other (once you've been playing w/ both) is a bummer. I definately understand your situation and it sounds like you're planning an upgrade when finances allow. When the time comes you'll apreciate them even more and then your card room will be "complete". Since you're not in a hurry you have the luxury of looking at classifieds on Chiptalk or Ebay and you may find a really nice deal on a killer set.
Once you play home games w/ primo chips it's hard to play without them (but still great to rack up a big stack at the end of the night, lol)

Holy hell that made my eyes bleed and my head spin all at the same time. In a good way!

Fantastic job, as someone who has just completed their second "normal" table as a gift for someone i cant imagine what it takes to build one of those with that quality even with all of the facilities you had available to you.

Top work and great job with the pics/explanations

Top-notch chips, they are the perfect finishing touch for your great table. Now your poker room is complete (unless you're playing w/ paper cards, PLEASE say that's not the case )

those will do, sir, those will do quite nicely.

anyone else thinking "PE teacher, eh? with that table, those chairs, and the Paulson's for a $5/$10 no-limit game?"?

haha, actually I liked those colors the best so the 25 dollar green chips are 25 cents, the 100 dollar black chips are actually 1.00 dollar chips, and the 5 dollar is spot on being worth 5 dollars. we play a .25 cent / 50 cent no limit game, big pots are like 50 bucks or so, average pot is like 8-10 bucks.....

got a good deal I think on the chips, 339 dollars shipped for 443 paulsons pharaohs.

also I picked up most of the chairs at an office that was closing down for 10 dollars each, there is one really nice one which I bought for myself on black friday for 50, but originally 170 I think. I had to stand out from the group when we play.......

About 70 cents per chip is a fantastic deal for those Pharoahs, I know you'll never want to play w/ lesser chips again, ENJOY!

I have always had 2 decks of kem's. They are now six years old but still look great, they don't shuffle as new like before though, I am thinking about updating those, what do you recommend?
