Bounty Chips - Split Pot - Who wins? Bounty Chips - Split Pot - Who wins?

Was playing in a small buy-in 9 person single table tournament. Had $5 bounties in play. Two hands into the game, this happens:

Player A (in the BB) goes ALL-IN.

Player B (MP1) calls and has player A covered.

Player C (MP2) calls the AI, and has the same exact chip count of player B.

All else fold.

Players B & C check it all the way down (kind of ******ed since there was a bounty on the line and they had some chips left as well).

Edit - They (B & C) had the exact same hand AJo, and both paired the J on the turn. Player A was holding KQo and never made his hand.

Both players looked dumb founded when after the game they were handed $2.50 each. Speaking of ******ed, one even said "It was a $5 bounty right, not a $2.50 bounty?" This player actually thought I was going to hand him another $2.50.

Anyhow, I'm fairly sure my math and decision was correct.

Any comments?

Well, you left out one important detail--the final result of the hand.

If players B & C tied and split the pot, then they also split the bounty.

If the hand was not a tie and one of the players won the pot, then the player that won the pot gets the entire bounty.

He did give the rsults of the hand....and the decision looks corect to me and I'd be amazed that anybody would ever expect anything else to happen.

I don't see the results of the hand there anywhere. We know player A busted, but we don't know if Players B and C split the pot or if one or the other won it.

It looks he went back and edited that part in.

OP, your decision was correct. I guess those guys had no clue where the bounty money was coming from. If it was me I would have handed him the $2.50, asked him to give me $5, then given it back and asked for $2.5 change. And then wait to see if he figured it out.

Interesting, I didn't know you could edit, so late after the posting.

Just wanted to add that it didn't make a diffirence that Player B and C had the same chip count. As long as they both had player A covered, then the bounty would be split.

Presuming "Bounty" is a third player here: Yes, B wins the bounty. You can't give A the bounty because the Bounty player had him covered; A was not capable of knocking him out. It was B alone that took his last chips.

Read my OP again very carefully.

Edit - Look how early in the game this happens. Chip count and position are not the issue.

He wasn't talking about YOUR original post, he replied to the new setup, where it was demonstrated that the winner of the main pot doesn't get the bounty, because his stack doesn't cover the bounty's stack.

From my tournament rules (I probably stole these from somewhere):
(Short answer: you got it right)
Quote:
20. Bounties
a. Before the tournament begins, a player may optionally buy a bounty chip and become a bounty hunter.
b. If you are a bounty hunter, and you eliminate another bounty hunter, you receive his bounty chip as a reward.
c. You receive nothing if you eliminate a non-bounty hunter
d. You receive nothing when you eliminate a bounty hunter if you are not a bounty hunter.
e. If you are a bounty hunter and you are eliminated by a non-bounty hunter you get to keep your bounty chip.
f. When you are eliminated by a bounty hunter you must give him your bounty chip – But you keep any bounty chips you collected during play.
g. When you are eliminated, take the bounty chips you have collected to the TD. Each chip is worth whatever the original bounty value was. ($5.00 in this case).
h. If a player is eliminated by multiple bounty hunters in a single hand, the BH with the best hand gets the chip. A tied hand results in a split bounty chip.
i. Note that you must have enough chips yourself to eliminate the BH to collect a chip. In the flowing example, Player A, not B gets player C’s chip, as Player B could not have eliminated player C. (all players are BH, and ended up all in)
1. Player A – Started with 1000 chips, finished with one pair
2. Player B – Started with 500 chips, finished with two pair
3. Player C – Started with 750 chips, finished with Ace High
ii. If a hand that eliminates a BH contains a mix of BH and non-BH, any BH that was capable of eliminating the eliminated player (started the hand with more chips) is eligible to receive the bounty. If none of the BH players had enough chips to eliminate the BH, then the eliminated player keeps his bounty chip for himself.

First of all, welcome to HP... especially as it seems you'll spend some time searching!

But, my question is....what made you dig up this 2-year old post? Were you searching on the subject?
