Second robbery at a poker game in less than 6 months. Wonder how the robbers are finding out about the game. Be careful were you talk about home poker games.

Police are investigating a report of three or four men who robbed players at a Northwest Austin card game early Saturday, according to an arrest affidavit.

The suspects forced their way into a home in the 8700 block of Northforest Drive, near West Anderson Lane and MoPac Boulevard (Loop 1), sometime before 1 a.m. with weapons drawn, the affidavit said.

At least one of the suspects may be in police custody; a man carrying a large amount of cash and a debit card belonging to a victim was arrested later that morning, according to the affidavit.

The aggravated robbery is part of a "still active and ongoing investigation," the document said.

Victims and witnesses said the suspects came into the home displaying handguns and rifles and took money, cell phones, purses, wallets, credit cards, debit cards and identification cards. ...

Actually, just off the top of my head, this is the 5th Austin home game robbery in the last 12 months. Some of the owners are partially to blame. Aside from Internet posts, they would send out text messages advertising how much money is on the table. The growth of poker and the greed of some of these game owners has really made the Austin poker scene dangerous. It used to be you had to have good references to get into a game and the owner did some due diligence in checking out the players. Now you can find an open invitation on Facebook. I've even seen some idiots posting flyers (that one got robbed too).

That game ran a $30 two-table tournament each night before the cash game that had a dozen or so new faces each week. It was bound to happen.

The same reason they rob liquor stores, convenience stores and pizza delivery drivers for far less--they're morons.

Don't lol at me. Newspapers are in a public image industry, and should (and usually do) care a lot about ethics. They don't hide behind internet anonymity like wimpy forum posters. When they do something disrespectful to somebody in their community, they face the consequences.

While they might have some policy reasons for publishing the address, they certainly don't do it out of failure to care about the community they report on.

Arm yourselves, Texas poker players. If we gun down a few (or more) would be robbers, I guarantee the desire to rob us will be greatly reduced. Big dogs are also known to be a deterrent and are plentiful in Texas - get a few.

This is wrong. I was at the game. 2 people were armed, but had they tried anything, the guy with the 30 clip AK would have taken the crowd out.

So are all the robbers caught? Did they get their sentence yet?

One was apprehended. Note sure about the other two or the sentence. They called people in to give statements and prosecute the guy. No cash was returned and after ~40 days, they still have my wallet and ID
