AQ I probably play (tho' I've been known to fold it UTG), KQ I probably don't play until the HJ.

Not many without reads. The deeper the stack, the more important position becomes.

So you're calling a preflop shove? You're going all-in on a King-high flop, with a stack of 6x the preflop pot?

Game theory.

(Remember, I mean this when the blinds are 50/100, not 10/20.)

not to change the subject... but to change the subject...

i'll be seeing you suckers tonight!!! hehehe.
let's see how the PLO goes.

It ought to be a fun-filled shove/fold fest, depending on where you stand in the Schmend/PFAP continuum. OK, that isn't fair. Schmendie isn't as wild as some in our group.

If you want to rail the freeroll I'm in, and laugh and taunt my play (later, I hope), the tournament is 360436244.

420 registered players at this point.

Well, that's it. I flopped two pair when I saw a non-raised flop with 35 in the BB. Villain went all in with one pair, 75, and then caught a 7 on the river. Rats. I think Schmend has another PS account.

After the flop, don't fall in love with ANY hand. Have redraws to protect yourself and your aggression.

That's all I got- need to sleep! Finished the final details email for my home game, during the practice tourney. Ring games later tonight!!

Big pairs don't have nearly the same value in Omaha as they do in holdem. You have to look at all of the card combinations in your hand and see how many hands you could hit on the flop. Your hand has KK, 2nd nut diamonds, and the 54 could make a straight, but it is likely to be on the sucker end. That's it. If you catch a K, great, but it is so easy for someone else to get two pair on the flop. I would say this is a good by not great starting hand. Roughly, sorta, maybe like getting 99 in holdem.

Smelt's hand is definitely better in that it has AA, two nut flush draws, but his hand lacks any straight draws. I'd approximate this to JJ or maybe QQ in holdem, I guess. I don't consider either hand an all-in hand if ones stack is not short.

Now, KKQJ double-suited, that is an awesome hand. AAKQ double-suited is even better. But I don't like to get into any all-in pots for 50 BB preflop. No Omaha hand dominates any other hand preflop. I understand 60-40 is about the best you can be.

Every Omaha hand looks good preflop. Postflop you usually see how marginal your hand is.

Right here, a pretty large warning flag has to go up. Are you up against a fish, or a "FISH"?

In my limited experience, a re-raise in Omaha tends to indicate the kind of hand that you ran into, or bigger... even short-handed.

Now, online, perhaps the blind steal is more common online and thus your RR makes more sense... but you had a late limper in as well, which indicates a little bit more about both your hand, and therefore gedanken's.

With that flop, I'm not sure you would have gotten away from the hand anyway. It depends on how much the FISH put out there on the flop.

ok... so i didn't show well to back up my smack talk.

multiple times i had so many draws... and missed them all.
but, i do have to say, playing in these tourneys feels exactly the same as playing in my local home games. case in point, last night, the one double up i did get in the PLO tourney was w/ AJAJ double suited. later, in the live game... guy to my right doubled w/ the same hand, and suits, and i said "oh i doubled up with that earlier".

to speak to live game cash results from last night (since you all know my tourney results) - i started with 150BB (the game plays out much deeper than that about an hour in.) and left with 345. i was down for quite a while. one of the "special kind of bad" players took a bite out of me with K2o early. i had AKs and the flop came K2J turn 8 river K. i thought sure he had a weaker king... turns out i was 1/2 right.

all in all, it was a splendid evening. live poker/online poker/live poker sandwich.

So you're saying we're no better than the fish you normally play with?

I know when I've been insulted. I know when I've been insulted!

I was a total fish at this because I don't normally play Omaha, the Razz games will be even worse, so get ready... But anyways, I was GerhardFonts. Who was the guy who was asking for the basketball game updates?
02-10-2011 , 11:24 AM
I'm the same on both also.

That was I. After some of the donk plays I made last night, I wish I could say that was a different ec_outlaw. But unfortunately him and I are one in the same.

I'm Smelt24. I toasted my early exit last night with a decent night's sleep. Stoopid PLO.
