This is a pretty cool story, except for the fact that Nick didn't play that tournament. Which can be verified by looking at OPR, since he played online all day, and the next, and the day before. I also talked to him on Skype several times throughout the day.

Based off a quick Skype glance it doesn't appear Nick played any of the 4 events at the BC Poker Championships. I also see OPR results for the 7th(high roller), October 30th(1.1), and 25th(bounty). On the 25th most of his online action begins later in the evening, but I chatted with him on Skype in the afternoon about a power outage in his apartment.

Meh. It kind of depends on how you define being "up". We've chopped a decent amount, but most of his portion went to paying debts back. And now he's in makeup, so he technically isn't "up" that much, but his makeup has a lot of value...etc.

edit: i misread what you said at first- that's interesting and there's always the possibility that he is mistaken or i'm mistaken about the specific event, but my friend doesn't just make stories up and nobody has ruled out the possibility that somebody else played those games online on his account. naturally i'll ask him more about it next time he's online.

lol evidence, so because a known scammer was playing online on his account and he skyped you a few times during the day, that means he couldn't possibly have oversold himself for an event that he punted off.

That's definitely not Nick, lol. It doesn't even kind of look like him. The picture you are using above is like 10 years old(I actually think it's more like 13 years old), you could have at least found some other pictures of him to compare with. If your friend really thinks those two people look alike, then we definitely have solved the case here. Maybe he should go find the smart asian guy.

There is absolutely overwhelming evidence that he didn't play the event.

First off, his account played on Stars all day and he talked to me on Skype. There is no reason whatsoever for him to have someone else do those things. In fact, if he sold action to backers, there is every reason in the world for him to NOT do those things since it would make it look like he scammed them before it even got started. That's before we even get into the fact that Nick plays more tables and plays longer sessions than virtually anyone I've ever met or staked. It's not like he logs on for 2 hours and plays a set of 180's or whatever.

Secondly, I'm his current backer. I'm pretty sure any scenario where he oversold himself would involve me in some way since I'm the first person he'd ask for backing in a super soft tournament.

To be clear, once again, for the 500th time. I have no problem whatsoever with people saying Nick scammed them or whatever. He's obviously made bad decisions in the past. But you can't just spew random nonsense about someone, and further ruin their reputation, whether they have a reputation left to ruin or not.

It's not like I'm defending Nick because we're BFF's or something. I'm defending him because it just doesn't appear he played in the event. Trust me when I say that I am very interested in knowing about a possible overselling of action from someone I have money invested in. When I read the first thing you posted, I immediately began looking through my logs with Nick and looking at his playing history. But when you look at both of those, and combine them with some other really logical things, it just doesn't appear he played the event. Maybe your friend saw him playing a cash game, or a satellite, or on a different day or a different time or something. I have no idea. Maybe the dude just looked a lot like Nick. But at the moment it seems like all of those are more likely than him overselling the event, while playing online, while chatting with me about stuff only Nick would know online, without selling a piece to me.

ahahaha in thinking those two pictures are anything close to the same. I think what Nick did at the ME was deplorable, but you are really reaching at straws, for reasons that haven't seemed to presented themselves yet.

not Nick and looks nothing like him in the least. Exact same eyebrows and dimples is pretty LOL though, you cant possibly make that out from the pic, the nose is similar but I know Nick in person quite well and that isnt even close to anyone that looks like him.

Don't think it's him but looks kinda close when you compare it to other photos.

Maybe someone at the FBI can run it through facial recognition. Least they could do for killing poker.

No idea what that photo stuff is about but I can see why someone might mistake the two photos as being of the same person.
