That's really easy for you to say, he doesn't owe you any money. Acting like this is a black/white situation is pretty ridiculous because it's different for every single person.

Obviously if Nick owed me 100 bucks and asked me for HSMTT backing I would be far less willing to go along with it, but that's not the case. In this case, I have the ability to make a small investment into a player I know to be +EV, and hopefully get all of the money he owes me back and help out others.

If every time a player didn't pay me back in full I just ignored it and moved on, backing would be far less profitable and I'd be far more broke than I currently am. There are lots of tough decisions to be made, I don't even think this one is all that tough TBH. From a risk/reward stand point this one is a no brainer.

I mean I wouldn't stake him probably, but I don't really think anyone can bag on ZBTHorton too bad, he knows the risks involved and i taking his chances. I know personally I think Rainey is a huge scumbag, but I can really see how compelling it'd be to stake him, he obviously does a lot of things VERY right. His only real downside is the whole thing where ONE TIME he took a bunch of people's money, lied about playing the ME and then fled to another country.

Come on, most people have done this, it's not like he's literally the only guy to lie about giving money to charity, do some miscellaneous other scams, then take a bunch of investors money to play the ME and then run off to another country and blackmail the only guy he still owes money (entim) into writing good things about him on 2p2 or else he won't get his money back. We've all done this, cut the guy a break.

Yeah think it's a little disappointing but obviously ZBT has weighted the pros and cons and decided that it was worth it, gl to him and Entim (still hope Rainey keeps on losing).

He's paid everyone back except Entim and ZBT. I've been pretty critical of Nick but he's paid everyone back except 2 guys and those 2 guys seem fine with the current arrangement. I know it's cool to show that he's playing $3 sngs but the dude is trying to make things right.

Not that it's any of your business, but my plan is to have him repay me in full before he has any profits. This is the standard way makeup works.

After that, I will make sure all profit splits involve some portion of the winnings going to Entim and anyone else who tells me Nick owes them money and can provide reasonable proof of that fact.

If this takes longer than expected, contingency plans will be created. But I'm not going to speak on hypotheticals.

Nick Rainey steals a $10K stake to the ME and uses it to bankroll himself and puts his investors into an involuntary staking arrangement which he later (mostly) pays back with "interest" much lower than the stakers would be entitled to under normal staking arrangements.
Nick Rainey bustos his remaining roll playing high stakes HU SNGs against the best players on the internet.
Horton agrees to bankroll Nick despite the fact that if he runs at exactly expectation he'll pull in about $6K a month, which minus Horton's share and the money he still owes out, doesn't leave much for Nick, who's currently living in one of the expensive cities in the world.

FWIW. I'm fairly sure this part is untrue or partially untrue. Nick has already looked through his records and provided me with some of the receipts for donations he made to the hospital. He says he has more, and will be contacting the hospital to try and obtain them.

If he pulls in 6K in the next month he will have paid me off, paid Entim off, and have a little cash to pay bills. That sounds like a pretty badass resolution to me.

So, you obviously feel the need to put in the clause of "and anyone else who comes forward and says nick owes them money..." for one of two reasons (assuming the logical step of asking Nick directly about this has happened). 1) You've asked him and he honestly doesn't know/remember. 2) You've asked him and he's said he doesn't owe anyone else money but you don't trust his answer.

Seems like both would be problematic to a new staking arrangement getting off the ground with him, but obv that's just from an outsider's perspective.
