Winning bounty after losing main pot in 3-way all-in?

Hi all - new to bounty tournaments and don't understand this spot that came up:
3-way all-in with me being the covering stack (80BB) vs. 55BB and 40BB stacks. 40BB stack has winning hand while I have second best hand. 40BB stack scoops the larger main pot and I win the smaller side pot. I also get the bounty despite having only the second best hand. Is this simply because I had the biggest stack prior to all-in and cover both players? Not sure why the bounty goes to me and not the 40BB stack.

^ Yeah, you can't eliminate a 55bb stack when you have 40bb.
