I'd like to make it clear that my hatred for Elky is purely fantastical.

Every story has good guys and bad guys, and in the poker world, there is no better Arch-villain than Elky, imo...

what impressive about jovial gent is that he is a 12 years old, has a part in his hair towards one side like i had when i was 6, and probably built rocketships when he was 3... other than that im not impressed...

id win in a fistfight though no question, 10 seconds hes sleep

AJ is def. considered oldschool nowadays, which I agree is kind of funny bc he's like 21?

He was the illest back in the day though, made the best MTT vids out for a while. Then he let bad variance turn into jealousy turn into hate turn back into the how I sleep at night thread.

Still, it annoys me that some people just don't realize how much certain players are ahead of the rest of us. Yev has had the best results in the best structured events both online and offline, winning in some of toughest fields ever assembled you really think that's just running good?
I never said it's JUST running good. But you put in a way as if you can just fire up the WCOOP ME and DECIDE to win it because your skills are so far ahead of everyone else.

Don't know what's with all the hate just because I stated the fact that you have to run good to win a donkament (should be common knowledge among MTT regulars)!?
FWIW, I know Jovial Gent from back in the days when he won the sunday million in 2006. I railed him a couple times since (even from the start of day 2 in the WCOOP ME) because I know that he is skilled and I was trying to learn a thing or two lol.

But it's funny how some of you guys come out of the woods when a known player wins a major and you praise their skill as if there was never any doubt about their superiority. If Jovial loses a flip on day 1 and never even cashes, nobody even cares .. if instead FossilMan goes on to win it there would be multiple "Greg is the sickest tournament player ever" posts.

My point: there were probably more than a few GREAT players in the ME who also would have deserved to win. But for those 2 days they just didn't run as good. Either that or FossilMan is the biggest fish for finishing 2107th lol

So? Do I need to win the lottery to say that you probably gotten more than your average share of luck if you win it? I once FTed the $5 on stars and ftp at the same time (shipped one and finished 3rd in the other). Am I now a winning MTT player? Or did I just get lucky?

Anyway..back on topic: congrats Jovial .. well deserved! 1.7 million that will be taken out of the poker economy lol

black you're getting ripped for your general attitude, obviously djk, elky, etc have run really well this wcoop and its certainly possible to play fantastic poker the entire wcoop and never even make a final table.

but your response to seeing these great players have amazing runs is to whine about the luck involved. a player like mement sees this and his response is to become even more motivated to turn himself into one of the best players in the world. i know this is a dumb cliche, but its the difference between a winner and a loser.

Well, ok then I apologize if I seemed rude / out of line. I was trying to bring up the point that you obv also have to get lucky to win a tournament (no matter how skilled you are).

No hate intended .. just a bit jealousy coupled with pure amazement about some of the WCOOP accomplishments

The same with DJK, I was browsing through some of his old posts on pocketfives (yeah, im a stalker) and the amount of hate he got from Agriffrod, TheWacoKidd, #1PEN, Actionjeff and other "oldschool" players is just ridiculous. You don't see Wacokidd making fun anymore because it's clear he is just another mediocre slave of Sheets who might have been good a couple of years ago, but is terribly outdated now.
Looking back at the hand now it's pretty clear that DJK was just way ahead of the curve, and a lot of people would consider the hand standard today. I have never met or talked to DJK, but I could imagine he might have used more time with with Pokerstove than any other player on the planet.
A lot of jealous people acts like he is just some terrible nl pushbot that gets there everytime, and he wins a bracelet in one of the biggest razz fields ever assembled, and one of the toughest HORSE fields ever (I don't know if the 10k is tougher than the 50k, but I wouldn't be surprised), are you gonna tell me thats just because he is winning more than 50% of your flips? Gtfo

Edit:
Brad obviously they are running way above expectation, don't think anyone said that they didnt.
pretty sure you should check to make sure everything you post is accurate before hitting enter.
