when is an appropriate time to chase a flush? when is an appropriate time to chase a flush?

i usually never chase unless i can check a free card obviously, but say youre in the BB with 74s and the two suits you need come up on the flop, and the sb bets...is it about potodd/winodd/stacksize ratio or stage of a tourney? I know this is fairly vague but I am curious as to what rules others follow when they decide whether or not to chase a hand. Thanks.

What would be the reason for not chasing a black flush?

There's no magical formula for when to play a flush draw. It's going to be a combination of pot odds, position, and reads. Don't forget that some draws are better than others if you can count additional outs from gutshots, over cards, and potential two-pair/trips (i.e. if you've flopped a flush draw + a pair).

But, if I catch your meaning correct, if you've got a standard 9-out flush draw, then generally you have correct pot odds if the flop bet is <1/2 PSB and if the turn bet is <1/3 PSB. Obviously, this is just a general rule and other considerations will come into play in each specific situation.
