close to the bubble. two tables, 7 handed and co table cl. 40bb i have. shorties are crippled. blinds and antes are huge. 3000-6000-800A. began the event w 12000. i'd not been opening, but had been 3 betting w some frequency. co tbl cl was opening a ton. we were the two active players, partially cuz we could afford to be. i was in seat 5. he was in seat 10 w 3 players between us to my left.

i'm bb, co tbl cl is cutoff. he opens to 15,000. i wake up with a real hand QQ, pause for 20 and 3b to 40,000. he tanks for 2 and...shoves! had a plan for all his responses except that. my turn to tank. dude's opening range is pretty wide. but then again my 3 betting range is pretty wide. showdowns exposed us. lotta weak aces and offsuit paint he'd shown. lotta suited one gappers and suited connex i'd shown, incl one sb squeeze where i lucked into a boat w J9. put it all together and based on trends figd he likely had an ace, possibly a weak ace. also assessed he was skeptical of my strength. that read felt good, but honest here. got v confused attempting to find his shoving range. ultimate decision for my tournament life.

suggestions? know there's only two ways to go. adv for differentiating his open vs shove range?

Isn't this an easy call even readless and even more with your history/dynamics?
I am quite sure ICM is a factor, but not a big one yet. I'd guess he shoves here to protect his vulnerable value hands like 77-JJ, AJ+,maybe A10,KQ. A range your QQ beats by a wide margin, you got what you wanted (when you fueled the dynamics), call now.
