3 folds, Hero ?

Button is unknown but chip lead, SB is regular, BB is probably regular (he is at my other tables, nonetheless) and second in chips. My image is tight but it's probably not a big secret that I will steal with ATC if in good position to. I'm currently third in chips but with the stacks the way they are, chip position can change dramatically in an instant for anybody at the table.

Obviously, I'm posting because I don't really want to fold. I hate to just raise, get called by one of the bigger stacks, and miss flop, so there's only one other option and that's shoving... ?

raise to 800, call any shove, shove any flop?
or you can just shove of course...

I'd hate to fold that hand

Are you calling if someone reraises? If no then you should have just openshoved. If no then you are gonna get exploited by any decent player. It's either push or fold and I think I lean towards folding in this sport if you think you have any decent advantage over the field. I think Im shoving KK+ here.

If I can assume the players to my left to be competent enough to know they can only call extremely tight I shove (especially since my AK limits the risk of someone having AA or KK), but when in doubt I fold.
Against really tight players minraise/fold might be an option but I don't particularly liek this line as you can rarely have solid enough reads to know that people will rarely coldcall and only re-shove with good hands.

Yes, the plan was to call any reraise. Should have wrote that instead of "call any shove" perhaps. But I am open for the possibility that this is to loose in this situation. I think I would have played this hand though

Terrible terrible line for a DoN with this stack setup.

I fold it, with 4 stacks significantly shorter than you, you shouldn't have to get involved quite yet. You can afford to fold a bunch of orbits to give them the chance to bust, and if that doesn't happen you still have plenty of FE if you need to use it.

This might be one of these spots where I decide to push for the meta-game, showing I won't back down because I'm a big stack. But if I have reads that stacks left might be calling a bit loose I fold.

Blanket statements are bad, you're obviously not "easy folding" AK everytime you get it.

Topher, I think Mark just made a "DoNs are stupid" post.

Absolutely horrible advice. I can see a line for shoving, and I can see a line for raising, but if you get re-reraised you have to dump. In a DoN it's not good to get into 60-40 pissing contests when you have a decent stack but a bit to go before end game.

Fold > Shove > Raise-Fold > Call > Raise-Call

Yuck! Raise-calling is just about the WORST line you could take in this situation.

Probably the best here is open folding. But if, for some reason, your fold button is defective, then next best is to just shove.

I'd need a very good reason to simply raise, but it should be a raise-fold line and should be to somewhere around 2.5x if you really must. But advocating a raise to 800 is akin to saying you hate money.

Hero has position on all the shorties, and that means getting involved in a hand involves mixing it with the stacks who can cripple you. This usually dictates playing a waiting game.

raise to 500, folding to any shove...

if someone left is more than 12/10, id fold
if there are plenty of maniacs left, id fold

Thanks for the replies so far. I agree that this is either a fold or shove. I ended up shoving but didn't particularly wanted to although I was fairly certain SB and BB would fold. I was only wary about getting called by BTN. In this type of situation, I guess I'd fold or shove depending on mood. I was taking bad beats left and right in other tables during the session so this may have been a frustration shove, just for the hell of it.
