Venetian $350 Deepstack - 17 players remain (we are in the money)

My table is 6-handed

Blinds are 4000/8000/1000. I have about 200,000. Villian covers me and is table chip leader with about 250,000.

We re-drew tables at 27 players, it's been maybe 30 hands or so since then. Pretty much every hand the entire time has been someone raises and wins. I have raised maybe 5-6 pots and won all but one of them, 4 without a flop and then one where I made it 20,000 when the BB had like 30,000 total, I called his all-in and won with A5hh. I lost one pot folding to a 3-bet. My opponent has also been active, raising probably 4 pots.

Preflop: I am UTG with As7d.
I raise to 20,000, BB calls.

Flop (50,000): Q J J
Check/check.

Turn (50,000): T
BB bets 25,000, I raise to 55,000...

Thoughts?

It's six handed.

Should have mentioned this in OP - 3 players (myself included) are deep, and a 4th is healthy (like 18BB). Two players are somewhat short, but they each have like ~14BB so no one is in crazy shove mode.

thanks for the info. makes it closer but still a fold for me preflop. ATo+ imo

Agree with folding pre, probably raising most suited aces and A9 or ATo. And 14 bb stacks would be pretty good reshoving stacks IMO. Don't mind the bluff post though - really comes down to how he views you , recent history, etc. , but a lot of people don't want to put their tournament life on the line without a huge hand. I expect him to virtually never 3bet this turn unless he has like 98+, so then you get a good idea of his range and can consider firing a lot of rivers as a bluff. Would only do this if you are willing to fire the river a lot. I like the sizing as it almost looks as though you are baiting him in

agree stick to opening values with some regards to position however...6 max with a feel for the table I don't mind it...

I am not sure I want to bother messing with the other big stack here for no real reason

that board hits so much of his range and he can flat your raise with the nuts and some other value stuff and we are stuck on the river

why would he lead light OOP vs you when you raised UTG and have that board?

obv read based but I think we can avoid a big pot here

I'm kind of surprised people are folding A7o deep in a live tournament playing 6-handed. People just don't 3-bet shove anywhere close to optimally. I think it's a profitable open, but maybe I'm wrong, I'm pretty new to tournaments.

I think alot of people arent folding A7o in 6-handed.But many of them will fold it on a Q J J T board.

200k isn't particularly deep at 4k/8k/1k blinds.

Agree with rumnchess about the rest of it, particularly this sentence:

Mostly, though, I think it's an unnecessary spot to put yourself in if you think you have an edge on the field.

A7o sucks when flatted and you've gotta play out of position. I'd much rather raise JTo, T8s, etc

We're also not deep (with most of the field)

Yeah, especially with only 25 BB and at least the possibility of reshoves behind.
