I registered about an hour late for the Venetian $340 deepstack, straight after getting knocked out from the WSOP. 75/150 level, 11,5k effective. Villain is a 60yo guy who I've been chatting up a little bit as he's to my direct right. He says he's from NY, came here to play two WSOP events and cash games.

I've been in the table for 2-3 orbits, folding every single hand but one. The guy's been limping about 50% of hands and raised only once. In the last orbit he open limped TT in the cutoff.

Folded to him in the CO, he makes it 400, I call with QT on the button, blinds fold.

Flop J86 (1025)
He bets 600, I call.

Turn T (2225)
He quickly bets 1300, I think of folding but decide to make a double float and raise if he bets the river smallish.

River 4 (4825)
He bets 2500, I take my time and then announce all-in for about 8,5k total.

-Do you think 60 year old guys are capable of folding overpairs or AJ here? Especially as I had been friendly towards him, so that he probably thinks it's less likely I'm bluffing?
-Do you see his sizings OTT/OTR as strong or weak?

He pretty much can only have one combo of sets as I'm sure he'd open limp 66/88 pre.

If this was online and this old guy was just some 55/5/0 mega donk and you could see his holecards and they were an overpair would you even consider doing anything like this?

Interesting hand.

I mean if he was open limping hands like TT I'm going to give him credit for an overpair here. And doubt you can win the hand without raising.

That said, your line to me looks too much like a busted flush draw, I would expect him to tank/"hero call" a ton here with his KK.

Yes, but mainly because I just can't help myself.

LOL.

Honestly, I like it in theory but would have to see that this particular villain was capable of making a big laydown before I pulled the trigger, the board just isn't wet enough to really scare him off TP or an overpair.

Loved this tourney, BTW.

I look like a young scandinavian kid who likes to make double floats with Q high and raise rivers.

Does villain have you covered? I'm guessing no...hard to say if this is a good play or not. I disagree with another poster who said the board isn't wet....I think it is. I know I wouldnt have the balls to make this play and I doubt he will fold TP here..

Ok, well generally I would think with that board vs a 60 year old it might be a good play. I know I wouldnt do it, but I bet he folded....

This and if you would have a straight, set or 2 pair you would have raised on the turn so i dont think you can represent a strong range here

That's online thinking, highly doubt a 60yo guy knows how to assign ranges.

This whole line seems spewy and unnecessary. Can't you just pick on his limps and value the **** outta him when you have something?

WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS

I read the title and thought no.
Unless there is a 4-flush or a one card straight possibility I'm still thinking no.

What are you repping with this line, pocket fours?

And there is a busted flush draw on the board...

I really don't see villain laying down AJ or an overpair here.

This hand basically reminds me of why many online players get in trouble in live games by overthinking. In live games/tourneys, people just don't fold TPTK or overpairs unless the board is REALLY scary.

If live players are really as 'simple' as many online players claim, then why would you try to bluff them out a pot when you KNOW they have TPTK or an overpair???

I'd imagine that he tanked for a while, shuffled his chips, shuffled his cards, asked for time, then talked himself into calling.

pure unadulterated spew chuck, he's never ever folding an overpair he's probably not capable of hand reading to that point and will be willing to go with his hand blind

just my opine i hope i'm wrong for your sake

i think his sizing is strong btw, if i saw him limp tt on the co i'm probably snap folding this hand pre if he raises so fold pre for petes sake
