tight players can not win big MTTs? tight players can not win big MTTs?

my idea is - tight players can not make a lot of chips, it is diffcult for him/her to stay in the game.
so it is diffcult for a tight player to win big MTTs.

How do you think? are there any counterexamples?

depends on the structure

Only read title. omg so wrong. The best way to play ssmtts is tight aggressive. Tight aggressive is so superior to LAG in tournies <$22. Just don't be a complete nit play anywhere between 12/9 and 18/12 and over time you WILL get results if you play well with these stats.

Online villains are awful and open all sorts of garbage hands

You can basically just crush the first few levels just by following a generic TAG opening / calling chart and playing completely straightforward

Which is why I still suck at the cash game compared to most 2p2'ers

While everyone else is opening garbage like QTo from UTG, you are reeling in chips basically just by playing solid hands

It's not until antes come into play do I think about making aggressive / bluff plays

none of you give a good example - tight players can win big MTTs.

if you play so tight, you can not have enough chips to stay in the game.

I do believe you've got to take chances to win, but tight players can do real well, beyond real well. It's obviously a mix. It's about "changing gears" and all the other strats we have all learned. Yes playing tight in the first couple rounds (I choose to play loose here, and be able to fold when I need to), you don't have to play aggressive until ante's or the couple stages before when the blinds are decent (like hour 3). And playing super tight is a sure fire great strategy for the final two tables as long as your are about average chip stack.
