The White Stripes are good. In fact, I think they are real good esp when you consider there's only two of them, brother and sister (Jack and Meg).

I don't think that's true.

That doesn't mean I think that brain weight to body weight determines intelligence. It's somewhat correlated for sure, but I think it's silly to say one animal is more intelligent than another because of this statistic.

Two very interesting and relatively recent discoveries about animals that have larger brains than humans.

Dolphins have names for each other.

Elephants communicate over long distances with subsonic sounds.

details?

Frequency (as in pitch) of blue whale song has been going down. No one really knows why. Could have something to do with the water chemistry or temperature, the population density of blue whales or something else.

This article is about that, but also mentions that the whale song can be heard over 1000 miles under just the right conditions, but normal range is much shorter. I googled a bunch of pages and it seems like a lot of people talk about 100 miles as a normal limit, but of course seeing the same thing over and over again probably just means there's exactly one source for that info and people are just repeating it.

Happy B-day Scotty!

I think he just means it coincides with the start of the Olympics. (I had to check to see that the Olympics were actually starting tonight.)

hmm... we had a completely different slide showing brain mass to body mass as % in my neurobiology class... on this one some dolphin (i can't remember the specific kind) had a larger ratio than humans.

Doesn't necessarily suggest 'more intelligent' but there is definitely some correlation... besides, how can u measure intelligence anyway?
...

Check out this link about the elephant communication thing... crazy cool. I LOVE 60 minutes.

I couldn't find the clip by itself, but you can fast forward the video to the last segment

Yesterday I've read that the swine flu has passed its peak according to the WHO...

For those who survived it's time to repopulate the earth now i guess.

Lipo Fund has a magic energy drink

I don't understand how it does what it does, but bombays are absurd. I used one to make it to my classes Friday morning, and with only 4 hours of sleep this afternoon, was up all night at the casino despite drinking heavily with one of these helping. I'm pretty sure Lipo isn't actually good at poker and it was just his secret magic drink giving him the grind power, so now that the cat's out of the bag, we can all ship it.

Spoiler:
My other theory is that Lipo actually has a delorean time machine and knows what cards are coming so thats why he wins.
