Punching a guy in the back of the head with the gloves on was going to get him a big suspension from the start. Considering Bertuzzi had been dinged 10 games for a previous incident, you had to expect a big one on this regardless of the injury to Moore.

The rest of the year isn't as big of a penalty as it sounds since they were already in the last month of the season. It ended up being 20 games.

He also wasn't allowed to play during the lockout since the IIHF upheld his 'indefinite' suspension. If it hadn't gone into the lockout he may have been suspended longer.

This is a pretty huge deal no? Should be interesting to watch this play out.

I love how they add "update3" to the topic. Brillaint. Are all American online media like that?

Standard Chicago politics.

I remember when the Mark Foley scandal broke out. He's the representative for the Florida congressional district right next to mine and he grew up around here, even working as a busboy at a restaurant my family frequents. He was pretty well liked and the scandal was a shock (not so much the gay part).

it is amazing that in a so called great democratic country, corruption is so widely spread even in the highest level.

That corruption story is now on yahoo, and it looks like it has more information than the bloomberg article: linky

That Miley Cyrus song, Fly on the Wall, is the worst thing I've heard since Kelly Osbourne - Shut Up. The second thing might be the worst song ever attempted to be pushed as a pop hit.

Random rambling of the day. Pretty sure I'm moving back to OH from NYC. Work isn't coming through here, and I can't seem to get a foothold in this city. No friends in the area, annoying roommates, no work but poker due to the economy.

Don't see the point in staying, even if I've only been here 3 months. I'm depressed....

GOOD TIME TO GO GRIND SOME SNG'S!!!!!!! Bwuahaha.

givin what you just said I see no reason to stay. With the ability to make the same money anywhere it makes alot of sense to move someplace smaller, nicer and much cheaper.

His 10 game suspension was for leaving the bench, which is an automatic 10 games no matter who does it. It wasn't as if he Mcsorley'd a guy in the head to get his 10 games. Iirc it was one of the, if not the longest suspensions of all time, but was nowhere near being the worst act. The only reason he stayed suspended the next year with the IIHF was because Steve "2 minutes for diving ( )" Moore was still in really ****ty shape.

****. That was probably top 5 worst moments of my life when he got suspended. Goes to show my life has been pretty decent

It usually takes me about 1.5 years to get comfortable in a new place. There is always a depressed period when the newness wears off and you feel like a fish out of water.

That said, not having any friends is kind of tough. And a city like NY obviously isn't for everyone. But you'd be surprised how easy it is to make new friends in a place like that where everyone is from somewhere else. You just have to make an effort. Join something, or get a part time job in a bar if you can. If you decide to stay longer that is.

Sucker punching a guy with the glove on is pretty high up the chain of dirty NHL acts. Those gloves are pretty damn hard and very likely to cause injury.

Are there any other recent cases of someone hitting another player with the gloves on?

If I had experience in the food industry/bar tending, I'd definitely do that.

We'll see. I moved up here for the work, but my industry is primarily entertainment/hospitality and the economy is absolutely crushing freelance/consulting work, and getting in-house with hiring freezes is a no-go too. I basically picked the worst time to move up here.

NY is a tough town, no doubt about it. Where are you living?

Finding friends in bars and stuff isn't really the best way to go about it in NY. Sports bars, sure. Any kind of social event, like pool or bowling or basketball and stuff. Then it's just networking, friends of friends etc.

Lemme know how things are going for ya, or if I can help out in any way.
