I play in a local, weekly poker tourn. I make a lot of final tables but usually shor stacked. The thing is the jumps in blinds at certain levels are large. We start with 2000 chips blinds r 30 minutes and start at 5 10. Then they double, 10-20,25-50,50-100,100-200,200-400 then the jump to 500-1000. They then go 1000-2000,2000-4000, then they Jump to 5000-10,000. I talked to a friend about it and he said i should push and play hard at the 200-400 and the 2000-4000 blind levels. Is he right and why?
Short stacked at final table isnt so bad. Should be about the bubble. I believe it is very easy to dominate the end game play in these local tournaments (as long as you have fold equity). I see a lot of people playing passively with 8-15 bb's. At the start.. With 200 bb's deep..I like to play many hands 1st 2 levels..hopefully chip up. Tighten up for a couple levels and get paid off if I hit. Around 200-400 level most everyone will be short stacked. Good time to get aggressive, but be the 1st one in the pot.
