I like having that guar prize pool and if more people enter then so be it. But along with this Tilts fields in general seem to be smaller. I played a Stars $11 bi, $40k guar yesterday that had 9287 runners. That is a huge field to try and navigate thru.
It is like that quite a bit on Stars. The smaller $20 and under bi MTT's always seem to have 3000 plus runners.
So what do you guys think is the better value?
Stars has some guaranteed tourneys that almost always fill over capacity and exceed their guarantee as far as the prize pool goes. I don't play on FTP that much but I am signing up soon and have been researching it so that I get rakeback and any other promotional things that a new player will get by signing up.
As far as preferring rakeback (FTP) vs. the FPP awarded (Stars); I think you have to give it hands down to Full Tilt. I like the thought of guaranteed money coming into my account (27% rakeback) whereas with Stars you have to play it and win Tourney $ to redeem your FPPs. I think you can substantially curb your variance (especially experiencing the downside of variance) just be getting a certain amount of your buy-in/rake returned to you.
