Hi, I've been reading this forum for a few months now but this is my first post so take it easy on me please as I'm still learning.

BB just lost half his stack 3 hands before this to button who was raised allin with QJ. The board paired buttons Q on flop and BB had shoved with a small pocket pair that didnt improve. He had been pretty agressive the whole game raising preflop alot of hands from all positions.

So my first question is was it worth it for me to call his shove with QJ? I knew that Ax, Kx, or any pocket pair had me beat but I was willing to take the chance based on stack size and the fact that this hand if won would put me in the money.

My second qustion is am I a donkey? What should I have done differently if anything? I think maybe I should have raised the flop but this guy was raising every hand anyway so i dont know that it would have iven me any info on his hand. My only other choice would have been to fold. would this have been the right choice? Thanks for any input.

Shove preflop all of the time. The "why" and "huh" of that is how people get good at SNGs.

As played fold the flop, please. There's a chance A-high unimproved is good, but not a Q, even if it's the nut Q-high.

Calling an all-in on the turn with Q-high and no draws is not a good thing, even with how small his stack was at that point. Since he bet 1/4 of his stack on the flop, he was clearly willing to call if you shoved, so I think he at least had a 4 or a pocket pair. But either way, you just can't make this call profitably.

To avoid this situation, just shove pre-flop.

If u gonna call flop and turn with no pair no draw, why not push preflop???
I don't like the way u played this hand at all.

Put the buyin in the subject line.
Shove preflop, (folding is also ok)

BB has <10BB, you have him well covered, losing the hand won't hurt you much, you have a decent hand ============== shove preflop.

As played, just fold on the flop.

Calling is losing.
Raising is winning.

Sorry about not posting limit. I thought it was in the hh. Anyway it was only $1.20 on PS. I felt it might be donkey too but I saw this guy caught playing chip bully with garbage on a few different hands. How much weight would you give that when making your decision. I mean I feel like I am getting better at reading players now but I do see how it makes sense to shove preflop to put the hard choice back on villian. Lack of aggression is is probably my biggest weakness right now that I can see.

Anyway the villian had 6s 2h. Sorry I dont know how to make text invisable here.

So all worked out this time even if I did donk the hand. I went on to win which was my first sng win. I have placed probably a third of the games I have entered.

Thanks for the replys and confirming for me that I still need work on preflop betting and dropping hands that are unimprovable postflop.

I wouldn't try too hard to read people at the $1.20s.

If some one is chip bullying with garbage, you need to be patient and let him bet into you when you catch the flop (and try to get all his chips). Q high is not the time to call him down. It might be a total bluff, but even those who bluff a lot sometimes have hands. I am with the crowd that says push preflop, or fold if an A or K appears on the flop. Besides not all bad if he thinks he can bully you just sets him up better for later.

if you are limping, you are folding unimproved

if you are raising - go to 200 and shove the flop

I hate that play though

Best to stay away from him until the blinds hit 100, then start pwning him.
