I felt that villain might be gambling. Small tourney. 18 runners. He has a bounty on his head.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $10+$1 Tournament, 10/20 Blinds (6 handed) - Poker-Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

BB (t2170)
UTG (t1890)
MP (t2030)
CO (t1810)
Button (t2060)
Hero (SB) (t2040)

Hero's M: 68.00

Preflop: Hero is SB with A, K
4 folds, Hero raises to t60, [color=#CC3333]BB raises to t180 Hero?

I don't play them but I run fast with it...repop to 480 and I call a shove...lol...my ROI is better in 180s than 18s though

REALLY. I thought your answer would be call. PageUp would be rr to 450, and areaman would be shove.

Hmmm. My reads suck!

I think you should be PageUp, even though PageUp must admit that he knows very little (read: nothing) about 2 table SnG strategy. Brad's line sounds like a standard SnG line, though giving up the initiative makes me cringe.

If I were to pretend that this were a standard MTT (which is probably a bad idea since this is a SnG), my advice would be to 4 bet to something like 700. We call a shove, obv, and shove the flop if villain flats.

No, what game are we playing when we shove since it isn't poker?

I have two contradictory responses to this, one of which is probably appropriate to the intended meaning of this comment, but both of which I thought worthwhile to share.

1. Poker does not begin on the flop. Playing well preflop is part of playing poker. It's one thing to dislike a preflop line for specific, mathematically based reasons, it's another to dislike a line due to the implications of an affective platitude.

2. We are not playing poker. We are playing a SnG, which is to say that we are playing a narrowly constructed math problem.

Obviously, these two comments don't work together, so pick whichever one you think is best. What I'm really trying to say is that I think statements like "call and play poker" do more harm than good.

well it's basically a simple way of saying:

I don't want to play a 200BB pot AIPF (thereby negating our positional advantage) with ace high, when the option is there to play post flop in position and make less mistakes than our opponent (being that he has the huge disadvantage of having play multiple streets OOP), while you guys seem quite happy to force him to play perfectly against us and have the opportunity to negate his positional disadvantage.

But because that's a long way of saying the same thing (which I thought would be taken for granted (apparently not)) i said "call and play poker".

I don't see you guys advancing any cogent arguments (mathematically or otherwise) as to why a shove is better.

Well, I feel I should start by saying that there was no disrespect intended, and using the phrase "affective platitude" was probably unnecessary.

That said, I didn't recommend a shove (though I did recommend a play that is effectively shoving).

Secondly, hero is OOP.

oh , oops. i think i was looking at a different thread when i wrote call and play poker ... totally wrong. 4bet and get it in, we're OOP and we have the nuts BvB!

Be DeuceSeven call pf, then raise shove any flop.

Seriously vs a random I call. In an $11 I don't think shoving pf is horrible.

Since he's got a bounty on his head do you think he'd be calling a shove wider or tighter?

I think you're right. I should have been brad.

Does the bounty change things?

That's what I was trying to figure out.

To let you guys know - I re-raised, he shoved, I called.
