Selling pieces to friends? Selling pieces to friends?

Do you give your close friends better deals than you do to aquaintances, Im going to play the March 6th Sunday Million on Stars and my friends want in on the action. The set up is:

I alone will be playing the tourney start to finish, (will be an all nighter.... hopefully, as I live in UK, point being, to go deep is going to be 12 hrs minimum time invested, so next day off work obviously) they just want to put up the money.

Can anyone offer a good % to $ for my friends, I want to keep at least 50%, as I have kids, a mortgage....and a wife who would go nuts if I gave away anymore and did well, so have 40%-50% up for grabs.

Whats the best/fairest set up to have in place for the extra prize of the car

I can afford to play it myself, but don't want to win a sh*t load of $$$ and have no one to blow some of it with if I go deep

OR is there a simple breakdown regardless of associations

Cheers

You could still blow the money with your friends even if you win it all yourself.

But if you insist on letting them buy some of your action, I'd say the best deal you should give them is a straight percentage buy with no markup.

So if they give you 10% of the buy-in, they get 10% of the winnings.

Assuming you're a winning player you should be able to sell pieces at a markup of 10-30% (depending on your edge), so selling them pieces with no markup is gift enough. Not sure what else you had in mind, but a straight sale of shares is a plenty good deal for them.

As far as the car goes, I'd use that as a markup of sorts and tell them if you ship the tournament, you're keeping the car.

If they're unhappy with this arrangement I think they're being greedy and I'd tell my friends to go **** themselves if they wanted more from me. Again, this is assuming you're a winning player and can afford to buy-in on your own dime with no problems. Giving them a percentage is damn nice without any extras tacked on.

one thing to watch out for is that playing with someone else's money *could* affect your game. i sold 20% of my recent vegas trip to a friend (no markup) and was surprised at how much it made me want to play too tight (i guess because i didn't give my friend credit for understanding variance).

My friends know nothing about poker so id probably give them a ******* deal than usual and make them think its normal. Im a greedy mother ****er though.

OP makes no sense saying he can afford buy in but is selling pieces anyway to blow the money with people.

I don't understand the reasoning behind keeping the car. Is it because it's difficult to put a valuation on?

During special edition Turbo Takedowns, people would say "if I win, I'm keeping the car" which is absurd since 1st place is just the car (no cash value) and investors sorta get ****ed in the process by going home empty handed.

Out of interest if you ship the Turbo Takedown and ship the $60k and the Car do you have to take the Car or can you get like tourney $ or something in its place?

I fully intend on shipping the TT tomorrow and being a 19yo in the UK id rather not have the car than need to pay $10k a year for car insurance for the car you win.
