ROI Diff in Level Problem ROI Diff in Level Problem

01-16-2008 , 10:06 PM
I've semi-recently moved from the $6.50's on FT to the $12's. After ~1000 @ the 6.5's i've managed a 14% ROI. Yet, after about 700 so far @ the 12's my ROI is only ~2%. I realize this is a fairly small sample, however I feel my play has been decent and I have not been making any major errors. Any suggestions/comments on the diff. in these levels, as it feels as though the play has not gotten any tougher whatsoever, and what I could be overstepping. I feel my late game is fairly solid in ICM push/fold mode, as after review of lost tourneys it seems I am making the correct play more often.

Cheers.

it's just variance.

lol. goddamit. i don't want to believe this deviance in ROI could just be variance. myehhhhh...

I would have thought believing it to be variance would be better, as the much lower ROI otherwise means you have more leaks than you think.

How many tables do you play at once @ 12, and how many did you play @ 6.5?

i usually 4-6 table both. i know my pushfold lategame has improved as well. i try to spend at least an hour a day or so w. sngwiz. just frustrating to see dimishing returns. i will admit it has to be variance, i just busted on 3 of 4 tables as 3:1 fave preflop AI against an equal stack. i love this game.

I think it takes getting at least several thousand under your belt to really get a handle on how nasty variance can be. The 11's have a few more regs than the 6.5s, but the difference is pretty negligible.

While I'm sure inadvertent, you've just posted the same sad bbv story that hundreds before you have as well. Poker is a nasty game.

by some searches on http://www.sharkscope.com and identify the regulars and the fish. Then adjust your ranges accordingly.

He's just trying to find the holes in his game. While it could be variance, it might not be, and if not, he's trying to fix that. I always check for regs and that helps ALOT... good notes as well.

I'm still grinding the 6s and hear that the 11s are a fairly difficult move for some reason. Probably alot more regs
