nothing's that far away so you could definitely bike (although dont expect the streets to be anywhere close to copenhagen-level friendly towards bikes), but you'd be disgustingly sweaty at all times and I would strongly recommend against it

Seriously mother **** anything you want, I brought them more business than literally anyone in this entire city and they still **** me so hard every time with totally unreasonable bull****. The new spot is 24-7 Deliver, they have more competitive rates and much better service. I have the number in my phone which is charging, I'll post it in a bit.

For those who aren't rolled for playing every WSOP event:

So, what tournaments give you the best value for your dollar? That question is asked many times over across 2p2. I spent some time analysing structures in the hope of giving the fullest answer I could.

I reviewed tournaments played at the WSOP, Venetian, Caesars, Golden Nugget, and Binions. For Caesars and the WSOP Deepstacks, I used the 2010 structures. I calculated two important numbers that I feel best represent the quality of the structure:

Average'ish Start Stack: This is the starting stack divided by the average big blind in the first two hours. I feel this gives a truer sense of the starting stack and dodges some tournament disguises like starting 25/25 blinds.
DoGGz Tournament Factor (DTF): I calculate this number based on the average increase in cost-per-round from average starting blinds to the start of hour 13. This gives the player a true idea of how fast a structure progresses. Lower numbers increase at a slower rate.

Combined, we get information that tells is how deep we are starting the tournament along with how quickly the blinds and antes double.

I show my work:

DTF

Average'ish Starting Stack

Interestingly, after doing all that work, I realized something: The competitive market has really given great tournament structures for the summer tournament series. The series from Caesars, Binions, and Golden Nugget that should be finished (or at the final table) in one day offer quicker, but quality structures. The series at the Rio and the Venetian who's tournaments are multiple day progress much slower. Also, no matter the speed of the tournament, each series is giving players at least some deepstacked play at the beginning of the tournament.

With that, I have one recommendation: Play the tournaments within your bankroll that fit into your schedule. Don't feel required to play a tournament under the assumption you'll miss out if you don't play. If you have a favorite venue, play there. There is no need to feel like you've made a big mistake by choosing one tournament over another...

but avoid the Rio Deepstacks!

but avoid the Rio Deepstacks![/QUOTE]

Can you please explain why? I was planning on playing 5 or 6 of these as they are more in my br and I'm staying next door at Gold Coast. No car...

My thinking was if I cash okay, then play some of the $550 Mega Satellites.
Would I be better off skipping the Rio Deepstacks and just play the $330 Mega Satellites?

they have a worse structure compared to the other events doggz compared.

I could be wrong, but I think RIO has a free shuttle (+tip) to other harrah's properties, maybe it just runs to ballys I cant remember

point being you'd probably be better off playing the ceasars tournaments over the deepstacks

Doggz I think in fairness though you should be incorporating field size, potential ROI, and softness into your equation somehow. It doesnt matter if a tournament has a great structure and they get 45 people to show up, I would advise people to be playing in a tournament with a little weaker structure that will have 250 showing up.

tha being said venetian is always going to run 2nd to the wsop events, they get huge fields over there...you can consistantly play for 50k+ in a $350 buyin and 80K+ in a $560 range buyin.

the wsop deepstacks will be by far the softest events in vegas this summer. I'm just guessing but I think you can't go wrong by playing a few of these. The caesars events get very small turnouts, and binions and golden nugget should prob only be used as last resorts or if your looking to change it up a bit.

Re cabs: I have been ****ed on Day 2s a couple times by this. Getting a cab to your place is sketchy as they will not always be on time/not bother showing up with certain companies. Some companies are much better than others but the best thing to do is get the personal card of someone who drives a lot in your area (I dunno how to find this person but they seem to always turn up) and use him regularly.

booked a car through hertz yesterday. I'm 24, I basically called them and said I'm only gonna rent a car if you can waive the under 25 fee. He said no problem, but then the price he gave me was 2500 (should be 1600 without the fee), I was like wtf and he was like oh I guess you have to tell them when you get there that we waived the fee, apparently he couldnt do it there. So hopefully they dont try and **** me when I get there. But yeah, 1600 for a compact for ~6.5 weeks, meh. Could have gotten cheaper if I was 25 but e.g. I called budget and they said it was absolutely 100% impossible to waive the fee so they can go f themselves.

when i was 24 i booked online through expedia with enterprise, i don't remember if it asked me my age or just said 'you need to be 25 to get this rate'...but either way, i said i was 25 or clicked ok...and then when i got there they saw my license and obv figured out i wasn't 25, and quoted me some absurd price that was nearly double. i played dumb, like i didn't know that the under 25 fee existed and asked if they could somehow lower it since i was renting the car for nearly 2 months...the guy called his manager, and they just waived the fee. really was very simple and not a big deal at all

if you really want to not pay the fee i think your best bet is to reserve online and when you get there and they ask about the fee, play dumb, and be like, well i can't afford to rent this with the fee, and be prepared to walk away. there's like a million rental car places in the vegas airport, and i'm sure most places will want your business, and at least make some sort of deal with you before you start asking aroudn to the other companies

I think there should be some kind of resource that 2p2ers could use that would pair people with cars with people who are without cars. I will have mine, and I'd be more than happy to carpool/help people out.

hertz waiving their under 25 fee is a joke. their overall prices are significantly higher than all the other places. that being said renting a car in vegas from any company is absurd with all the taxes they have.

i feel like the best bet is to drive your car out there or take taxis

Hi All,

I am one of the unfortunates who will need to win a seat to the ME this year. What are your recommendations for the sats?

If there is another thread that address this subject, please direct me there…

Single Table Satellites, Mega Satellites and Live Action begin on May 30, 2011

Mega Satellite Schedule: May 31 - July 4:

$330 Buy-In Mega Satellites Daily at 4 PM. Played as No-Limit Hold'em.

$550 Buy-In Mega Satellites Daily at 8 PM.

Or -

$1060 Buy-In Mega Satellites at 1 PM. Played as No-Limit Hold'em.
$2080 Buy-In Mega Satellites at 8 PM. Played as No-Limit Hold'em.

I plan on being in Vegas June 16-19 and July 5-9 (longer if I make it )

Any clue how many players on average for the megas?

I really appreciate the advice, and hope to see you all at the ME

i think pollstar is the best site for this info.

also, last year i brought one of those lunch boxes that you put in the freezer overnight and packed a lunch almost everyday. definitely one of the best ideas i've had and because it's a mini cooler as well you can bring a wider variety of food.

as far as transportation goes, unfortunately having a car is kind of necessary. i also love to bike however i'm not sure how safe i'd feel biking around vegas, especially at night.

walking seems like a fine idea, but if you have to walk anywhere over a mile away it can be pretty grueling (and i love walking as well).

Because we're all in different places and the cabbies can't do that cause they're employed by the larger companies. The smart thing to do instead is talk to the cabbies you get rides off of that seem normal and explain that you're here for the WSOP and want someone reliable to come by the house now and then. Vegas cabbies are DYING for business and if you tell them you can get them decent sized trips they'll make sure either they or one of their buddies gets over to your house very quickly when you call them directly. DO NOT go through dispatch whenever possible.

I've been in Vegas for a year now and coming here for five, so I'm happy to include whatever input in the thread that I can as well.

Also, Gobbo are you around the strip a ton for the 25k? Wanna show me a secret badass restaurant spot some night?

Want to quote and emphasize this. Seriously, just use your imagination at any hour of the day and it can be brought to you. They're an absolute God send when you're lazy, unavailable, or in no condition to drive.

If the rest of the country is characterized as one city, I would agree with this.

I remember being sent to some horrible excuse of a sushi restaurant, highly touted by several poker players who had obviously never eaten sushi before... called "NakedFish". It was beyond miserable and in this disgusting strip mall.

Yes, if you know where to go you can get good food, if you mean that you know to go somewhere far far away from Las Vegas.
