What really surprises me that no one has discussed as an option for transportation was an idea me and a friend talked about: buy a cheap used vehicle at the beginning of the summer and sell it at the end. Theoretically you could even make money if you found a good enough deal and are good at selling it. I mean it is quite a hassle to do this, but many of you i'm sure have PA's or busto friends that would help out and do all the legwork for this and I really think its a good option...

If I were staying for 3 months, it'd be more of an option. But I've thought about it.

Problem is. If you get too cheap of a car you risk it breaking down in the INSANE Vegas heat. If you get too expensive of a car you risk a big gap between purchased price and selling price. Not to mention, it can take a while to sell a car, and when people are ready to bail post WSOP, we're ready to GTFO usually.

me + a buddy bought a $400 beater a few yrs back...i had been living in Vegas a while and didnt have a car. i had this car for 2.5 yrs, drove it all thru mexico. perhaps the best $400 ive ever spent. its very possible.

Also, you have to pay registration fees, and possibly sales tax. Don't know about NV, but in California even a private sale is subject to a pseudo-sales tax when you first register a car. You might also have to deal with a smog check. Plus insurance.

if you don't have a car, another option for dinner breaks is gold coast. fridays had me in and out with enough time, and ping pang pong is a nice change of pace. might wanna call ahead, but they're usually pretty quick once you order and they have "bar" seats.
