Question on Checking it Down! Question on Checking it Down!

What is the correct play here?

This is a situation that arises quite often and every time I am beat up for it.
I just do not think it is smart to give free cards here. On the bubble, maybe, but I just don't see the point here. Am I wrong?

$5(R) No Limit Hold'em Tournament - t250/t500 Blinds + t50 - 9 players

UTG+2: t11425
MP1: t37136
Hero (MP2): t26605
CO: t22011.66
BTN: t9470
SB: t25746
BB: t3390

Pre Flop: Hero is MP2 with A T
4 folds, Hero raises to t1500, 2 folds, SB calls t1250, BB raises to t3340 all in, Hero calls t1840, SB calls t1840

Flop: (t10470) 8 5 T (3 players - 1 is all in)
SB checks, Hero ????

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Bill

I bet this for sure, you have tptk. Are you asking about colluding with the other guy because someone is all in?

I did bet it and three or four of the other players called me a moron for not checking it down. Here I would bet every time. Most of the players at this level think you check it down, if you can eliminate someone. I wanted to make sure I was correct. In a satellite on the bubble, I would be inclined to check it down, is that correct and/or illegal?

WTF, you're so far away from the money, lol at these idiots. Always bet here. I get flamed every time I'm near a bubble in hands like this. Always bet this.

I think our Flat call PF was sketchy, should have at least thought about shoving to get rid of SB and have lots of dead money HU against BB.

Flop: Shove it. Absolutely no reason to repeat our Flop mistake and let SB continue to play

If I was one player away from the final table I might check this down, but checking down just to get ITM is worthless. Not only is it correct, but it opens up a nice tell to find out who the mincash (and exploitable) donkeys are.

Bet to protect your hand. If there wasn't an all-in it wouldn't be a question. If this was a sat or your hand was worse than top pair then the answer might be different. Here you aren't trying to knock people out, you're trying to win chips. However people betting into a dry side pot with ace high do piss me off.

I've read that you want to check it down to knock someone out, but I disagree, I would of rerasied pf, because the BB is likely to push with almost anything. The re-raise would of pushed the SB out unless he had a monster... but then again he would of raised the first time.

But as played I raise the flop as well.

I don't like the idea of putting my tournament life on the line PF with A10o. I would think that comes out EV+, but if I do that three or four times over the course of a tourney, I think it will bite me.

How much does my skill compared to the other players factor in to a push decision?

Thanks,
Bill

No, I don't want to check it. I have been criticized for not checking it down.

Turn: (t10470) 8 (2 players - 1 is all in)

River: (t10470) 8 (2 players - 1 is all in)

Spoiler:
Final Pot: t10470
Hero shows As Tc (Full house, eights full of tens)
BB shows Ks Kd (Full house, eights full of kings)
BB wins t10470

After which the SB cried he would have won and I learned how General Custer felt.
