I said I am asking for information and have been asking many times now and he has not provided it. Instead, the best he could come up with was (and this response was from a couple of days ago)...

If he provides it and it can be verified by the hospital, case closed. I believe I said "it sounds like the money never made it" from his response (above) and I said, "Basically, we need answers and that is what I am looking for." Sorry for wanting to make sure the money got where it was supposed to go. I would think most people would especially in this case. If he hasn't sent in all of the money, he needs to do that immediately and case closed, too.

"No worries, dude, I am going to proceed without your information. I already compiled what I need from the original thread. I am going to ask the hospital to look for a donation of around $5466.81 between april 5th and 19th so if you don't want to waste the hospital's resources and want to give me the details, I would gladly accept them. I will explain to them the situation that we had an individual who was supposed to pool the money and send it but we found out he thinks most people are "losers" (or something like that) and that he owes a lot of money to other people, has had cars repossessed, seems like a storyteller, etc. I will also let them know that I was in contact with you multiple times and you would not give me the information I needed to do the donation verification. I think they will understand. Also, I will let them know that I will start a new thread to get real donations to match every last cent of every supposed donation if this donation comes up missing. Therefore, I am not really concerned whether or not you make this process easier or not. It will all work out. Thanks."

What? If he's claiming to be donating money on behalf of 2p2ers then people have every right to demand proof that he actually did send them the money. Especially when he turned out to be so untrustworthy on other matters. Burden of proof is on him not on TheLizardKing.

Like I said on the first page I've volunteered at this hospital and it's really well-run and deserving of people's donations. A shame that this good cause had to be derailed by OP's bull****.

just spent 10 minutes on the phone with Children's Hospital & Research Center in Oakland. no check has come in under the name Nick Rainey.

I was in charge of sending out, collecting funds, and logistics for fund raisers on numerous occasions for numerous organizations. Its not fair to automatically assume Nick did not send out any funds ONLY based on the hunch and what the secretary was able to provide you with which was, as you said, nothing.

It is very common that a check could be sent from another name, business, etc. Of course that wouldn't bode well with this community as many were under the impression that the check would read "2+2, Nick Rainey, Pokerstars" as the primary donor.

There isn't substantial proof indicating that such a donation wasn't made. However, the recent activity of this individual has led many to believe otherwise. That's completely understandable, I agree with the concerns. I don't agree with the allegations until further evidence is brought forth. It is completely unfair to assume this regardless how this person has behaved recently. He has, in fact, done good things in the past. He has, in fact, done very bad things in the past. He should still be given the benefit of the doubt and presumed innocent until proven to be guilty of such a thing as disturbing as this.

It would do us all well to treat these investigations as individual cases instead of collecting all sorts of irrelevant information from other ordeals to support cases of separate matters.

Nick is still "MI_Turtle".. I can find 10 posts celebrating him for every 1 berating him.

He very may well have (and I hope he did) but he has not provided anything to verify it and I have been asking quite a bit. Thanks.

Ray, I think you needn't copy paste the " Ray who put a timeline..." part any more. I think there are 4 posts already by you on that.

That said, I completely agree with PLO. I'd like to give Nick credit just because he does seem to portray a generous personality. For all his weird behavior, he still can't be labelled a scammer without evidence. Obviously that doesn't absolve him of anything. Ray has alleged a few things, which definitely need confirmation. Hope to see how this pans out. Turnup's phone calls seem to make this situation murkier, but that said, we dont know if he made the donation as 'Nick Rainey', (if he did at all).

Look. I certainly have to know that I am way out numbered and it isn't even close.

Maybe forget that who I'm talking about is NR and pretend its anybody. The only point I wanted to make was that he should, IN THIS CASE, be given due diligence in the matter. Considering that it involves a real hospital, real kids, and probably real legal issues if you are indeed correct.

they go by the name on the actual check, so unless it came out of someone elses checkbook or sent straight cash, then he never sent it.

You are the person making these allegations, so I'd like to believe people read your posts seriously. Add to that, this is a really important issue, so I wanted to ensure people don't ignore your posts as being repetitive. It's good for the community you brought this up. Hopefully this gets resolved soon. I'm a nobody in this situation and can't take sides, but I hope this clears up soon both for the charity and Nick.

I do agree. We're just not sure if it was sent by someone else, or some other organization or say even a Pokerstars WIRE. I'm not sure if you can wire someone (or an organization) through PS wires, but I'm considering those things as possible options too.

understandable, but considering pokerstars wanted nothing to do with him at the wsop ME when he was sure to get them publicity, id say the chances of PS getting involved are small.

Understood more clearly this time and I do agree. I hope it gets cleared up quickly, too. I did email Nick again after his last response and still have not heard back (almost 36 hours later).
