Its early at a $100 buy in tourney at the local Poker room. Mine and the villans stacks are pretty close to around 5k each and I have no history on him and he's a regular.
Blinds 25 50.
I pick up QQ under the gun +1.
I raise to 275. villan on the button calls. bb calls. Pot: 900
flop: A A 7 rainbow.
I check. villan bets 200. bb folds. i call.
turn: 8
I check. villan checks.
river: J
I check again. villan bets in 750. I tank fold.
after the villan's check on the turn it should it of been an insta call on the river? I know these decisions are what take people deep in tourneys. online i most likely make that call. whats ur thoughts? thanks in advance.
well he calls from the Button. Wide range. I think you should have C bet the flop and you would have gained info right there. As played pot is 1300 on the river. Its 750 to call. Your gettin roughly 3/1 on the call. Im probably calling here. Trip aces are very possible. Not likely. Any reads on the villain? Is he aggressive? A known pro? Although players nowadays often lead out when they flop trips. I still have to call here and he probably shows 67s.
Close spot. If we call we are not crippled. We are getting close to 3-1. I feel like he can have 99 type hands a lot here. Live players don't auto 3bet 99 and 10 10 on the button. Think about it, he makes a small bet on the flop trying to see where he's at, checks behind the turn with showdown value and fear of getting raised off his hand, then bets the river confidentally to get value from KQ. He can't put you on an ace as you've checked down. Your hand is underrepped and hes betting worse for what he thinks is value. I call.
