I'm posting this hand to drive into my head how terrible this is. This guy had been tight, too, 16/5/1.1. I suck.

Don't be so hard on yourself. You played this hand fine, he could easily have AA or AK on the turn, he just happened to have one of the most unlikely hands possible. ul gg.

If you're going to call the river you may as well shove is my thought.
edit: but now you're beating precisely the AK/AA that flats preflop and a bluff, so yeah, tsk tsk

I really think the turn may be a b/f against this guy.

In retrospect, so do I. Although what do we think about c-calling the turn since we have the 2nd nut heart draw and four outs to the boat? Would that be spew, too?

Against this opponent, I like a c/c turn and evaluate on river, but it's kind of a difficult spot so I can't say I wouldn't have played it similar to you if I was put in this situation.

How about this line.

Checkraise shove the turn (if you're already willing to commit stack with top 2). If it gets checked through, you'll get a VB out of a player who will likely fold the turn and get a bet off someone who floated you.

I like a check and a call on the turn, reevaluate on the riv.

Checkin the turn is bad imo, he could easily have a big heart in his hand or TJ etc which we give a free card to beat us. We also lose value checking this turn because we could be getting paid off by lots of worse hands that will check behind for pot control (his VPIP is 16% which is not all that tight). Bet-folding is one thing, but checking is bad.

I mean if you're going to call the tiny river bet, just get it in on the turn.

Yeah, I agree, that's better. I think on the turn bet-fold>check-raise>check-call>bet-call, in retrospect. I'm glad to hear that other people think this is as tricky as I obviously did.

I can't understand why you played this hand past the turn. Your read is that he is a tight player and you fire at the turn when the flush hits and he comes over the top?! Did you think that he floated the flop to bluff a flush card?! I certainly don't see him raising you with just a pair of K's. I just struggle to see a hand that a tight player would play this way that you beat by the turn. The river is surely a clear fold, both the flush and the straight have got there and I can't imagine him playing any lower two pair hands or getting this over excited with a single pair. If you are comfortable with your original read of the player I really think the turn is bet / fold.

EDIT - I have just seen the stack sizes, it makes me even more inclined to say you are crushed. I really don't see him running a bluff against the only stack at the table that can take him out. I am confident in saying he has caught a real hand and wants to get your stack with it.
