Pretty terrible call, right? Pretty terrible call, right?

I was not 100% focused on my game but came into a spot in an SnG game earlier.

SnG stage 5 - blinds 40/80
Me: Ah 9c (1,955 chips) 20+BB
Villain in BB: Ad Kc (895 chips) 11BB

I had adjusted my preflop raising range, especially in position as I was playing a table of NITS. The guy in the BB had more or less been blinded away and was super passive, he'd only raised once or twice before this in the game and was really passive and had tendencies to forfeit aggression post flop.

Anyways, I come to this spot where I min-raise on the button with A9o and he shoves pretty quick. Having adjusted to play more loosely, I stupidly decide to call and he halves my stack with AK.

So after reviewing my session I am 100% this is a fold, not a shove. For a passive villain who has been suffering from chronic chip erosion, this is an obvious fold right? I'm looking for opinions and critiques of this, I assume you guys would have folded and not snap-called as I did, without paying mind to his range.

Happy Xmas all!

Hi Darth,

The tournament was a 6-man DON SnG. 1 player had been eliminated so far and villain looked as though his time was limited with his stack.

SB is a tight passive guy with 2,555 so around 32BB during this hand. He folded to my initial raise.

Without using sng wiz I'm guessing this is pretty close, probably a fold but definitely not a terrible call. Even a passive opponent should recognise they need to start shoving with 11bbs. You'r raise from the btn can also easily be construed as a steal attempt and villain may have had enough of folding his/her bb.
The main thing to note is that villain should be shoving pretty wide in this spot and can have a worse Ax, some non ace broadway hands and other hands that you are behind but have good equity against.

Thanks for the feedback Sharky.

Absolutely, I did think about this hand quite a bit afterwards and, as I said, I wasn't 100% focused on it at the time. Normally I don't mind the call but I had a read on the BB as very NIT-like. He shared similar tendencies to another player on the table who would not develop a push/fold strategy until they were down to about 5BB, sometimes even calling small raises with 5-9BB.

Regardless, I appreciate the reply, thanks man.
