Early in live MTT. $75 buy in. Blinds were 100/200 or 200/400 (I don't recall for sure) 20 minute levels. No antes. Most stacks are still hovering around the 10k mark with a couple short stacks. Full ring.

I am dealt JJ.

A couple limpers & a raiser to $925. Folds to me. I re-raise to $2,500. He shoves on me & has me covered.

I'll leave out the end result for now till I get some feedback as I am curious to see what most folks would do in this spot.

It really depends on stack sizes so knowing the exact blind levels and knowing what stack size you have and your opponents have will dictate our actions.

That said, if we are around 25 big blinds in this spot I'm calling the 4bet shove all day. If we are a lot deeper starting the hand I don like getting JJ in pre so would fold the hand as played. In that situation I might flat JJ in position.

Early so everyone is pretty close to the starting stack of 10k

Blind level seems pretty crucial.

I let it go at 50bb. Probably going to let it go with 25bb also. At best ahead of 10 10. Probably racing AQ+.

If this is 200/400 with a few limps and a raise I would likely just shove.

If 100/200 I would likely flat in pos and go from there.

great advice. what do you think we are up against ?

theres only two choices, call or fold.

JJ vs top 10% our equity% is 57% to 42%

JJ vs top 20% our equity% is 65% to 35%

JJ vs top 30% our equity% is 70% to 30%

Do you reallllllly think we are up against worse then top 10%? Thats your big plan for the tournament, racing 57 - 42's all the way to the payouts? You are really hoping it is AK or some lower pair. When in reality most overshoves at this stage are usually wanting a call.

How about some your own wisdom besides Ignore this ^

After my re-popped my re-raise with his shove, I got the read off him I was hoping for. I already suspected he had AA & when he gave me the please call me smirk, I was pretty sure I was right so I folded & he showed AA.

For one, this belongs in BBV, and for two, blinds are super important here. You can't say "either 100/200 or 200/400, I can't remember. What would you do?" Because those are two very different scenarios.

FWIW I hope it was 200/400 bc an open to 925 at 1/2 is ridiculous and shouldn't be 3bet very often (without a read of this is his standard sizing)

In this spot early in tournament I'm prolly folding JJ to this shove. I'm assuming blinds were 100/200 with the limps in front and the $925 raise (looks like a standard raise with 1 bb per limper extra). Anyways for starters, if it's early on there really isn't any big reason to get it in with JJ and 50 BBs. Villains 4 bet looks a lot like he has AK here. Also QQ-AA. So you're behind his most likely range. I'm assuming b/c its early on you don't have a read that he 4-bets lite so I'm thinking anything less than that just folds or calls your 3-bet. The only way i'm continuing in this spot is if he is very laggy and I have some sort of read. If not just stay out of harms way and wait for a better spot.

Also, pre flop I'm just flatting pre here with JJ.

Looking back I probably should have just called his raise since I had no reads on him.
