I was thinking about improving my STT skills by reading a book. I haven't really seen a lot of them focused only on STT. Can you please tell me about any good one?
A lot of results in google point to a book called “Sit 'n Go Strategy” by Collin Moshman. Is this a good one?
Having read both I found Phil Shaw's book more helpful...
A piece of advice: whichever one you buy don't pay attention on any estimates on expected ROI's or winnings (both are outdated on that part) and focus on strategy.
moshman is okay and uses more examples, so it is probably better for beginners that don't have any feel for SNGs yet.
Jackal's (phil shaw) book is a bit more theoretical with a lot of ICM stuff and more suited for players that have a bit of fundamental understanding about SNG play.
read both and they are both alright. if you are serious about sngs, then investing like 30 bucks or so in both books is not a bad idea.
i never read a book on sngs. i would just read the anthology here and read hand threads for a couple weeks before getting into it. there's so much more info available here.
I have always felt that Moshman's book is more comprehensive. The place where Shaw's book shines is in the description of how to play relative stack sizes and in the example problems.
Getting and reading both will not be a waste of time. However Moshman's is the book that I find myself referring back to more often.
The books are ok, but I would suggest something like AMT's last man standing series from deucescracked instead, which goes through each part of the game over about 6-7 videos. They have 7 day trial I think fwiw.
Moshman's book is pretty meh at this point to me, and in his latest videos on CardRunners he doesn't adhere to much of base strategy's he suggested when SNG Strat was written. If for whatever reason a book format is that much easier for you to digest, it is a good start all of the above said.

zero
+1. There are points in each book that are subject to debate, but it never hurts to get another point of view on things.

any ideas? cant see where you register and verify email.
This just isn't all that true. There's not much comprehensive stuff for beginners and general threads often get snaplocked. There is good stuff in there, but it's not super easy to find and these days is drowned by the utter bull**** so many post.

weird; i re-downloaded the thing last week when I realized I still suck at sngs.
so it should be working... if you really want the book you can PM me and I'll upload it on mediafire or something (not sure if that's allowed?).
