BOOM!
"All in and a call!" yelled the dealer over at table 240 in the Brasilia room. Mark Landgraf was all in holding AQos against Alexander Yaroshetskiy's AJhh.

With a dominating position in the hand, Landgraf improved to trip queens on the flop of . Yaroshetskiy did pick up a royal flush draw though.

The turn hit the , giving Landgraf quads and leaving Yaroshetskiy drawing to only one out. The poker gods must have been looking down on Yaroshetskiy today because the landed on the river giving him the royal flush! The table erupted and one player even fell back out of his chair as he was leaning back in it.

Yaroshetskiy is now up to 240,000 and Landgraf dropped all the way to 14,300

THE BLIND WERE 200/400. THAT MEANS THE EFFECTIVE STACKS WERE AROUND 120K EACH AT THE START OF THE HAND. DID THESE IDIOTS REALLY GET 300 BIG BLINDS IN PREFLOP WITH AQ AND AJ?
quads and a royal flush are both very strong hands

For some reason the google spreadsheet has my stack as 3450, instead of 34.5k.

try reading again...

this bit makes it sound very much like their hands were shown and THEN the flop was dealt which means.... THEY WERE ALL I PREFLOP!

maybe typo in pot/stack size by pokernews? or maybe they reported it wrong and it did go in on the flop?

there is no way they were all in pre...prob got a raise and reraise in on flop then checked through turn then went nuts on river. just no way they get 120k in pre there

I have a question about doing this whole table draw/comments thing in public. I know it's become standard, but is it appropriate?

I prefer to do it in private anyway, discuss it with a friend or two maybe and look at hendon mob and all that, but I would hate to rely on someone else's read in order to play a hand or an opponent, either.

Also, I just think it's kind of discourteous and weird to the player being described, even if he never finds out that there is a dossier on his playing style on the internet.

Lastly, it gives your other opponents (who might be lurking) the same information, which could make the whole thing backfire.

The number of poker players I know fairly well is dwarfed by the number of people who post here. So there's a good chance that someone will know something even if the people I know better do not. Back when I was a criminal defense attorney, we had a similar resource (which was not open to the public, though). I'm sure most people here are intelligent enough to consider the source of the information in assessing how useful it is.

I agree that super-specific information probably shouldn't be publicly available, but I've never seen anything in any of these threads that rises to that level.

Just balance your posting range between accurate information and levels, obv.
