Bbfg, you way overvalue what a company lease car is worth.
Depending on the "grade" of car you can get the total value including fuel and service being taken care of is anywhere between €600-€1500/month.
Also 1.5k/month is less than what my fiancee is making at 25 years old at her first job after 2 years and she is not well paid.

Picked up some WW2 mess hall plates figured I would share with the STT poop thread. I have a contact at a local thrift store when they get WW1-2 items or video games in to give me a call. Well they call me about this military shell from WW2 and sent me a few pics, I told them I'm not sure I'll call back by the end of the day if I want it or not. Well I call later that evening saying I want it and to reserve it, the guy says he will.

Well I show up the following day and somehow it got sold. Well that sucked but the guy says to me they just got something in and I might be interested in it. He pulls out these mess hall plates from 1942 and I was pretty pleased. Quite glad the shell sold because these are way better in term of collectiblity and value.

Spoiler:

whoa! aren't nazi plates really expensive?
09-30-2013 , 12:58 PM
@Dustin, doesn't creep you out a little bit that nazi stuff? I know it was very popular among USA soldiers to want Japanese soldier's katanas, but seems a bit different than the plates for whatever reason. I guess geographically its a bit different for you, but here in the states if it was discovered someone had nazi plates we would be quite freaked out, ala American Beauty.

Depends on whos pockets you are in. I would say €30 a plate. **Edit** I have seen some go for $125-$200 but those usually have a special marking related to an event/area. The ones I have I am fairly positive are €30 ea, however, I do need to conduct further research for confirmation.

I suppose you can say it has an eerie vibe when you think deeply about the item. I am more into the collecting and buying/reselling aspect of it though so if you get creeped out from this you are probably in the wrong business or collection category. I know my girlfriends family (which we do not really communicate with) would probably freak if they know I had this in my house as they were Jewish and are closely tied with the war.

When I lived in the USA, specifically Pennsylvania, I know a ton of people would of loved to own something like this but as many that would of loved to own, I could say 3-4x would hate. It's just one of those things people despise because of the history. I enjoy the history behind it and ultimately the history does not affect me as I have little to none close history with the whole war. If I was born around the war era in my current area you would have to believe I would not want this in my house. I'm not positive but I would believe overall everywhere a lot would prefer this not to be in their house vs wanting it.

*Edit* Also I would kick myself for not buying them at the price I paid.

do you collect as a hobby or to resell?

ive never understood collecting memorabilia that you have no direct relationship with.

unrelated follow up question: are you hitler's grandson?

The old nazi stuff is coming out of the woodwork over here. Lots of the worst ever generation dying off and the heirs don't want to have anything to do with it. So you are starting to see it more and more at the flea markets, under the table of course, as it is illegal to buy and sell.

My former property manager had some really interesting stuff from WWI and II. He had 2x blue max's from WWI (no idea how much those are worth) and a WWII knights cross w/ swords, diamonds etc. No idea what that would be worth either but a ton imo.

No interest in the stuff myself. Found a Walther pistol when we lived in Bavaria when I was a kid, locked and loaded but somewhat rusty. Lots of helmets and stuff laying in the woods and old bunkers.

I collect video games and aviation related items. I mainly resell and rarely find someting I want to keep. In reponse to your "unrelated" question,

Yeah I believe that is the case as well, I also am seeing a ton of annoying old gaming systems, althought some are quite valuable for example: I stumbled across an old MSX computer which I paid little to nothing from a couple whos parents owned it and they just wanted to get rid of it because it is like a time machine. Well what they did not know was that it is worth €50-€80+

Well they were Jewish because 95% of their family was killed off. I do have a cool story about her grandparents being involved in the underground and ripping off Arthur Seyss-Inquart's money transport to Germany, stealing around 46m.

Very defense lawyerish aspect to collecting Doch. I personally think profiting from helping Nazi lovers pad their collections is a bit disgusting.

I do not think everybody who owns a nazi item or currently buys them are "nazi lovers". I can say I do not support what they did but it's like saying you would not buy a 10000 year old weapon that slaughtered a village that is worth 500,000 for 1000 because it is disgusting. You people and your emotions.

That opinion you have is the same opinion a lot of people have on poker players.

You don't own a 10,000 year old weapon, you own plates with nazi flags on them. The weapon would be super unique and historically important. You just have some 75 year old dishes left behind by some random family. It's the non-sexual equivalent of buying used panties on craigslist.
