I still think I'm gonna go back to school in the meantime and play live poker on the weekends. Even though I can't see what I would use with a degree in the longterm, it seems like an insurance policy that I more or less have to take as I wait for online poker to get legal again.
I used to play a 1/2 game at an Italian Restaurant by me where they would rake $5/hand if theres a flop. The only reason I kept going was for free food+beer and the people were just so bad. Think I went 5 times and won $100+ everytime. Then people stopped going.

its $5 for any flop in my game, which is hilarious when it gets to the button, button limps, blinds complete and check, and the $9 pot goes to $4 lol.

The players should organize a boycott if the rake's that outrageous. I would think that even the most casual player realizes this is a scam, it's not 2003 anymore

or they should just stop being pussies and 4bet every hand.

eh there's enough food comps to keep the casual players from bickering.

and you'd think it would kill my winrate, until I realized I could 5x it preflop and get 5 callers, even with an ubernit image. so really it plays more like 2/5 with invisible antes or something.

anyone know the rake structure of 2/5 at Aria and Commerce?

a game i was at the other day had 10% rake up to 10 dollars, but they have hired armed security and awful players to make it worth it. even i made money.

Max $4 taking $1 when each of the following pot sizes is reached:

$10, $40, $60, $90

Also, no rake taken regardless of pot size pre-flop.

Pretty much this. It's worse here because there is no NLH cash games in MN for whatever reason. The card room near here has found a loophole around that kind of, but the games only last 2 hours at a time and there is heaps of downtime in between them.

I'm getting the hang of LHE though, so between the NLH and LHE I can probably grind a decent profit while I finish school. It beats working at some crap job for $10/hour or less.

2-60 spread limit plays close enough to nlhe pre n flop for it to be good enough to grind. limits ur win rate, but still very +EV to play.

Yeahhhh but the only place that has spread is meh, their rake is pretty high I think, and it's like a 40 minute drive instead of 10.

Sup all,

I actually have a pretty decent potential opportunity for some of you, as an EMEX (energy market exchange) affiliate, which basically entails brokering energy for commercial entities. I don't want to come off spammy or salesy or get permabanned for trying to help ppl, but if you live around New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Illinois, or Texas, you can find more information at www.nyenergyconsultants.emexpower.com and then click on affiliate program on the bottom. PM me for more info if interested.

Aria (most 2/5 games in Vegas are the same structure though)

What's the mix? Stakes? Care to tell me who to get in touch with? If it's a cool mix I'd start it with you whenever I'm not grinding donkaments.
